You would really have to go out of your way to find a place that will care less and treat your loved ones even worse. This place is the epitome of broken healthcare. Walked in to the unit and there was a foul, gagging stench of sewage. Then went into a bathroom that was completely clogged with feces, the staff never batted an eye. The smell came and went over the weekend and one nurse said she'd gotten immune to the smell after so long working there. Mostly people are there for meth addiction so there's lots of craziness, people dropping down beside you and having seizures, paramedics having to haul them out to the hospital. Really ugly inside the units with a few raggedy books and a couple broken crayons to occupy yourself in between "therapy" sessions. They will lie to you at admission about the insurance deductibles, I have some rude woman that calls and harasses me almost daily about that. Food was far better than expected, but as soon as they catch on to that, I'm sure it will change. There was only about 2 nurses there that were pleasant and caring. The rest should go back to the state prisons or wherever they hired them from. Do yourself a favor and go out of state if you have too. It can't get much worse than this place, but by all means seek treatment if you need too, but MV should be your last resort.

This facility drugs the kids up while they are there for the whole 3 months they are there so they'll behave and be successfully discharged. They propose more drugs when a kid is in a mere bad mood, and then they are again someone else's problem once they meet thier "treatment goals". My son had showed EVERY indication of how much of a flight risk he was and how he is a danger to others, and against my recommendations, he was released and ran away 4 days later. I told Mesilla Valley that he WAS NOT READY. They totally disregarded me, but hey, what do I know, I'm just the parent who has known him his whole life and shares his DNA.

have you heard the expression "the inmates run the Asylum" well that describes this place. the patients come out worse than when they went in.
