I very rarely post a review but for this restaurant I couldn't wait to write about it. The food is absolutely stellar. The most nicest staff and experience is had here. I cannot recommend this incredible restaurant enough. It is worth every mile to get here and every cent.
Went to Nonno's with the family and had an enjoyable time. The steak sinatra and bruschetta were delicious. We were also happy with the dean martin pictured below. However, we wouldn't recommend the chicken piccata.

A hidden gem in La Mesa. A true dining experience that feels like you are with family. Not rushed. Not loud. And actually enjoyable! You can hear Frank Sinatra playing while enjoying some of their great wines and homemade Italian dishes. The Alfredo is the BEST and the specials are unique and made to order. Fresh and delicious! Be kind and patient when coming here, because that’s the vibe. I’m so glad I found this place!
Great find. Small, long standing, unassuming, family owned Italian restaurant. Great service, excellent food, all freshly made in house. The place is small though with very few tables, so best to call ahead and reserve a table. By the way...I'm born and raised in Brooklyn. This is good Italian food!!!
Had the Rigitoni Bolognese and stuffed mushrooms and it was delicious! Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place before given the many times I've had their food. Their pesto pizza is superb and their Nonno's Special sandwich is so yummy. It's a small operation but they run it with a big heart. Lisa the server is an absolute sweetheart! I dare ya to try it Wheelchair accessibility: There's handicap parking and ramp.
Excellent little hole in the wall place. Food was amazing, great wine list selection. Lisa was our server and knew everyone’s names so there’s lots of regulars which is always a great sign. She asked what my boyfriend and I’s names are so she would remember to really make a welcoming personable experience. Even offered a complimentary appetizer next time we come in!
Our first time to Nonno's and it did not disappoint. The food was great especially stuffed mushrooms but the service was even better. Lisa was pleasant and a fabulous representative of the restaurant. My wife and iwill definitely return with other family members! Thank you Nonno's!
There's a certain magic to any "hole in the wall" local spot, and this place exudes it. My father brought us here while on a trip back home in San Diego. You might be forgiven for walking past - it has an assuming presence in a strip mall. Peer inside and the three in-wall digitally controlled wine cellars are your first hint at something special. We walked in, and they greeted my dad by name! We chatted with the charming person managing the front of the house and she recommended one of the better chiantis I've had in a long while. My partner had a pasta with clams and a white sauce with peccarino atop a black linguini. My "Spicy Shrimp Roma" had the same linguini, which was fresh and flavourful. I was a little surprised to be asked about spiciness on a 1-5 scale. I requested a 4 and was warned about the heat before confirming. I've never had spicy Italian food and it was *amazing*. Dad shared that he came here throughout the worst of the pandemic because of the cleanliness of the kitchen, which was visible and sparkling. They also cheered him and my mother when they came for their anniversary. The service would be enough reason alone to come here. But the flavors were delightfully complex compared to other pasta dishes. I'm surprised this place doesn't have a line out the door. That said, this spot has limited seating which only adds to the charm, so definitely make a reservation. Or, apparently pick up a pizza! I've got to imagine they're pretty solid too. Don't sleep on this spot - you can't imagine what you'd be missing
Small elegant Italian restaurant, but superior quality overall. Don't let the outside fool you, because once your inside you know you are in a great place. The food, service, and vibe will have you coming back for more.Food: 5/5
