Story

Pearlz Oyster Bar is committed to serving only the best seafood South Carolina has to offer. Our Seafood Menu features an assorted mix of raw shellfish, local seafood, Lowcountry recipes, and regional favorites. Our raw bar offers a variety of oysters and fresh seasonal shellfish. We're also a part of the Sustainable Seafood Initiative, so eating at Pearlz is good for both the palate and the planet.

A full-service bar serving the coldest beers and unique, refreshing cocktails, Pearlz has become a favorite happy hour meeting spot for both locals and visitors alike.

You are paying for the ambiance not the quality of the food. Don't get me wrong, everything looks amazing, but my steak was dry and tasteless (I ordered it medium rare). The sides were pretty but lacking in flavor also. The staff are nice and the place is well located. I loved the decorations and general atmosphere. I would suggest the owners look at the menu and try each item to make sure the flavor and prep are completed to order.

Came here for dinner tonight. Was disappointed to find out that the oyster happy hour prices aren't available on weekends. I still ordered a dozen raw oysters, and after eating the 5th one and feeling something not quite right inside a it was going down, I dug around in the next oyster, only to find what is apparently called a "pea crab" living inside the oyster. I was told by the server it was good luck. I found 5 of these pea crabs in the remainder of my oysters by the time we finished the dozen. It grossed me out. They are living tiny crabs. Also, my children ordered cheeseburgers, both cooked medium well, and when they cut into them red juice flowed out all over the plate. Our last dish, the shrimp tacos, were also flawed, the beans were not completely cooked and had a good amount of bite to them still. We will find somewhere else to eat the next time we want to go out in Charleston.

During our trip we asked a waiter at another restaurant for a good local place. He recommended this place. It was simply the best. We went for happy hour. We had 3 dozen raw, 2 orders of fried, and a bowl of soup. We walked out stuffed and happy. Our waitress Shannon was amazing. She is very knowledgeable about oysters and the seafood. The clam chowder is the best I have ever eaten. We had clams till the very last bite. If you come to Charleston you must make this a place to eat.

First day with their outside service. 🐕 allowed. It was a bit confusing. Their table menu didn't match up with the offerings on the window menu. Otherwise the oysters we're delicious. The rice appetizer is a nice alternative. Taco shells were pedestrian.

We cannot say enough about the bar (just two) and the hard working shuckers (just two)! They were all very attentive and accommodating. Amazing time, thanks!!
