Thought I'd try the local Petco grooming services for my 4 year old Golden Retriever. He's rather exuberant, but I'm always told (by the many 
 previous groomers he's gone to) that he calms down as soon as I leave. 

The woman who took my information was rather short with me right from the start. My dog was excited, although not especially happy to be waiting at the desk. This is typical for him, and we've never experienced an issue over it. 

Just before taking him back, the woman asked if he's "always this way". I told her that yes, he is, but I'm always told that he settles down right after I leave. I said that I usually act like I'm walking back with him and then quick turn and go on my way, and he's fine. No, she said she couldn't let me do that, then proceeded to lead him through the door, into the back.

I then heard him screeching like he'd been hurt. Did that a couple more times, and she appeared back at the front with him, saying he couldn't be groomed. I had just signed the $77 dollar receipt, so left it, took his leash from her and told her I'd just take him to where I've been going. 

Maybe this woman was just having a bad day, or maybe the people at Petstravaganza and Pet Smart have more of a knack for dealing with big, goofy, excited dogs that have a bit of separation anxiety. Either way, I'll be taking him and my business elsewhere.

I have always had a great experience here. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. It's nice to go in and ask for help with a problem and receive an answer that helps. They really know the needs of the animals they have.

I visited this store today to pick up some feeders for my Bearded dragon. They had both Dubia roaches and Calciworms in stock so I grabbed a container of each and shopped around the store for a bit.  The baby bearded dragons were on sand which is the worst substrate for them and one seemed very lethargic.  I asked an employee to check on him because it's unusual for them to be sleeping during the day and he stated that the dragon had just come in and that's why he was sleeping. Now this is certainly a possibility but today was not an extremely cold day and at the point that I asked about the beardies it had been in the tank, laying flat in the sand for at least 45 minutes.  I also asked if it's their company policy to keep bearded dragons on sand substrate and he stated that it is and that they are told not to use carpet.  The Calciworms I picked up had finally began to warm up also but they were not moving at all, so I asked the employee about this as well and he agreed with me that they were probably dead.  At this point I decided just to purchase the Dubia roaches (a 24 count for 7.99) I could tell there may have been 1 or 2 dead but the container was sealed and it was difficult to tell exactly the state of the bugs.  I took a chance.  When I arrived home and opened them up to feed my girl at least 75% of the roaches were dead.  The staff I encountered were friendly, but I just can't give higher than 1 star for the experience over all.  I also was told this morning when I called to check what feeders they carry that the only difference in Calciworms and other feeders are that the are gut loaded more.  Very disappointing.

Great selection of pet products, dog training, pet grooming, and large selection of pets to consider. There are cats to adopt from Juliet's house animal rescue, dog adoption on occasion, and there are quite a few aquatics and reptiles.
