Chelsea was so kind and helpful! She made this first time Bearded Dragon mommy feel so much better. She was so informative and patient while I asked my multitude of questions and helped me choose everything I needed to start. This was my first time really working with a store associate and it was perfect! I've never had a problem at this store when I've just gone for things for the Beta, and the status of the animals always seems to be so good! They look healthy and lively and alert. Keep and reward these great employees!

Tried getting my dog groomed at this location. We just adopted our spitz. The lady proceeded to tell me since or if he’s never had his hair cut in the past he may freak out and she would only be able to cut half, had a very rude personality. . Like I’m sorry but doesn’t every dog have to get there hair groomed for the first time? Would not take your dog here. Probably well under qualified to cut hair and hates her job anyway. Ha

Nonetheless, there were TONS of other problems with this visit. My husband and I planned on running errands while we trusted PetSmart to take care of our puppy. We were walking through Lowe’s when my husband received a phone call around 1:30 PM CST from a PetSmart employee; luckily they got his cell phone number versus mine. The employee, we will refer to her as Miss. X, started the conversation with “I want you to know that whatever has happened here is going to be at no cost to you. We have taken care of all financial responsibilities concerning the incident.” First of all, this is not a good conversation starter when someone has entrusted you with their animal whether it be a dog, cat, bird, or any other animal. She proceeds with “We’ve had a mishap with Roxy and we immediately stopped what we were doing and took her to the vet’s office next door. We had an accident that caused Roxy’s nail to be pretty much cut off completely but we stopped immediately and took her to the vet and now the vet is taking care of her.” Once we get there, we meet with Miss. X and she recaps the whole situation since my husband and I are both there now and it’s no longer a phone conversation. She recaps that they started the visit by trying to trim Roxy’s nails and because of the following reasons one of Roxy’s nails was “pretty much” cut completely off. The reasons she included are as follows: 1) Your dog isn’t trained for this environment. 2) It’s crazy and hectic in here on a Saturday and you didn’t have your dog trained to be calm during this. 3) We have buzzers, other animals and people in here on a Saturday and your dog wasn’t use to the busy environment. 4) We couldn’t calm your dog down and she’s a power breed. She was extremely hyper and wouldn’t stop moving. 5) She, Roxy, has black nails and this thing happens all the time because of that. They claimed NO, ABSOLUTELY NONE, of the responsibility. After asking for my dog and my husband trying to restrain me from losing my anger, she walks back to the vet’s office and informs the lead vet that we are here. At this point, I see 2 vet technicians holding Roxy down with their body weight as another individual holds her paw, and another one CONTINUES to cut the rest of the nails. They finally bring Roxy out and you can tell she’s completely terrified. They didn’t have her collar or leash on her and didn’t even realize that we brought her in with one. They had to go find that after my husband asked about it. This visit was absolutely insane. This incident should have NEVER happened. Roxy should have NEVER ended up in the vet’s office and should have NEVER had her nails cut. If they can’t control the animal (it’s not just my dog that this has happened to), if the animal is too hyper, if the animal isn’t trained for this environment, or if the animal has black nails then DO NOT cut the nails. Do not put the animal, regardless of type, or breed, in danger of being hurt or traumatized because you could not control the animal. Instead explain to the parents using the excuses above (see numbered items 1-5) that it wasn’t possible to cut the animals nails safely. Do not use excuses above (again, see numbered items 1-5) as a reason for a mistake happening. The MISTAKE that happened is that you tried to contain an animal that you couldn’t control because of the environment and decided to proceed with a service that has the ability to hurt the animal. I walked away from this feeling sorry that I ever trusted PetSmart with Roxy. For what was supposed to be a simple grooming visit, it turned into a vet visit with 2 shots, an antibiotic for 2 weeks, and an un-bathed puppy. Roxy was completely skittish and stand offish even once we got her home for nearly 3 days because of this. She is scared for you to touch her paws and I wouldn’t dare come close to her with clippers. This experienced has completely ruined it for my “power breed” because she was treated so awful.

Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. I bought a hamster cage. When we got home to assemble it, it was broken. They let me exchange it even though I did not have the receipt. I called ahead and they even held the last one back for me. They answered all my questions expertly. Great selection of items too.

I only shop there for reptile stuff. Most of the employees don't know anything about them. Their reptiles, especially, are kept in way too small of enclosures. They are often underfed and almost always overpriced and less there on a huge sale. Their selection is mediocre at best for both live animals, and their supplies. They've got tons of different kinds of WAY overpriced dog food and cat food though, if you're into those things.
