I swear if I didn’t have to give them a star I would, they have been terrible and giving us a run around to get a refund for something we thought would be easy because we never got it and took it home. Instead I have been waiting for a week now to get the laptop, then we decided we just wanted our money back and now we are getting a run around to get our refund. We have been waiting since the day after we gave hem money to get a refund because we had a different option. I definitely do not recommend them and will not go back.

I'm a previous Employer with Rent A Center out of Boise Idaho. I was a Credit Manager and my job duties were dealing with delinquent accounts. I moved to Utah and went into the Provo Rent A Center to transfer my two agreements to Provo Store. My agreements that I have are nearly paid off. I have only been late once due to me paying 5 mins after midnight so I have flawless pay history with Rent A Center. After transferring my account I switched jobs and was not able to pay on one of my agreements. I contacted the Provo store in an attempt to get an extension to get me out to the next due date. I personally know as a credit manager it is very common to give extension especially to customers with good pay history. The process for the extension has always been very simple. The customer would come into the store and fill out an extension form with all current information, next payday, and the date they need the extension too! But after talking with the "credit manager" at the Provo store he informed me that I needed to opt into their "benefits plus" program which is $13.00 dollars a month. I know that this is very incorrect and also know benefits the store with certain benifits plus quota numbers that the store is supposed to meet. I was upset and question why and they had no valid reason to it other then their district manager recently sent this policy out when processing extension. I also know this is a lie because the store that I was employed at was in the same region as the Provo store and were all informed with the same policies!!! I also know per rent a center policy they are not allowed to contact your personal references till you hit 7 days late in which the 3rd day my agreement was late they contacted my aunt 3 days in a row harassing her and asking her personal information in regards to me that made her very uncomfortable! I also know that with references, once you can call That you cannot call them multiple times/days in a row! I learned as a credit manager that the references were a very import lead and are not the delinquent customer and not to treat them like they are with harassing them! Because once your account turns into a hard account or goes skip/stolen those references are what ya gotta turn too. So moving on.... I then contacted the store manager after my aunt contacted me about the harassment she was receiving. The store manager JEFF was absolutely horrid to deal with after I told him I previously work for rent a center and know the policies he proceeded to tell me "ya you have told me that three times now". And then told me they have had customers opt into benefit plus for extensions for over a year. Which was not what the credit manager said prior. Not ever once did any of my customers have to pay anything for an extension... What's the point of an extension? They don't currently have funds.... So make them pay for something that is really pointless for the customer and really just benifits the store! What great customer service I must say!!!! I'm definitely unimpressed and have got a taste how these people treat outstanding customers who actually PAY THIER BILL... Only good experience I had was with Jason when I first transferred my account. I will be paying off my agreements asap and will never return to the Provo store again.

These guys are great. They have worked with me on payments when i was late, and are always friendly. 10/10 will buy again!

Provo location seriously have the WORST customer service. The man who answered the phone said they were re-doing the website for E-pay but wouldn't wave fees for over the phone because he couldn't "verify" the issue the site was having? But you know there's an issue right? And the lady at the West Valley location offered to wave the fee because of it if we were renting from their store and he says "she can't do that"-- no she CAN and you WONT because you guys are money hungry and don't believe in doing good by your long term customers! When I'm done with the items I have from them I will no longer rent to own from them!
