Story

Open since 1927, the Sacramento Zoo is home to over 140 native, rare and endangered species and is one of over 200 accredited institutions of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The Zoo is wholly managed by the nonprofit Sacramento Zoological Society and inspires conservation awareness through education and recreation.

Sacramento Zoo is one of the best little zoos you'll ever experience! We have so many great memories here. The zoo has lots of holiday activities and special events as well. Also, the zoo is located walking distance to a huge park and other Sacramento family attractions. If you visit often I strongly suggest you buy a yearly pass, they are very affordable.

Were zoo members so its totally free all year round as many times as you want . Its 20.00 for one adult an 1 child so we got our moneys worth . Parking is free but get here early on weekend for obvious reasons. I would suggest eat before you come its a nice little walk to work off what you just ate. An yes you can bring your own food & drinks inside bring sunglasses or a hat .

Fun experience overall. Four stars because we didn’t get to see half of the animals... the jaguar and tiger and many others were nowhere to be found. Many of them were hiding which is understandable but also disappointing because we came to see them. Reptile house was very worthwhile, with lots of different awesome reptiles. Gift shop pretty expensive considering one foam hat is $9

We had a fun day at Sacramento Zoo and kids got to ride on the plastic animal toys. They have trains to tour the zoo with and they have stores where you can buy gifts and snacks for the day. They have this dark walk way too. Where you can go and see various types of snakes and other same type animals. I got to see three types of frogs that I have never seen before. The yellow and black frogs known as dark frogs where the favorite ones. Well, go there and enjoy exploring yourself. If you have kids with you, make sure you visit the Fairytale Land right across the street. Kids will love this place. Thanks.

Love our local zoo! We've been members for a few years. So nice to do a quick trip on the weekend or right after the kids get out of school. Bring your own food and drinks, too!
