Back in the day, Sears Auto at the Dayton Mall used to be a great place to get tires and oil changes but now, I feel they put more energy into selling you $500 worth of work than giving you good old honest customer service. I've brought a few vehicles here in the past, foreign and domestic, and it NEVER ceases to amaze me within a short period of time, I'm advised that my car(s) need more than just the oil change and tire rotation I asked for. Brakes, struts, fuel system services, you name it, they recommend it. 

I'm not the only one that's getting this treatment. My fiance's grandparents were shafted for $1100 in struts and sway bar end links not long ago on a PT Cruiser. I mean, they used quick struts in the front which retail for roughly $180 a side (so $360) plus rear shocks at $120 for the set. Add on $50 in end links plus whatever they marked the parts up too, plus the crazy labor rate and you get $1100. 

I am pretty versed in auto repair but due to where I live I can't simply rack up a car and work on it so that leaves me going to places like Sears from time to time. 

The only redeeming quality Sears Auto has at this point is access to the Mall. If that's an absolute must, then I guess you won't have any complaints. If you want GOOD or better service and a shop that won't try and push un needed services down your throat, I'd suggest calling local mom and pop shops for services. 

I rate them 2 stars due to the inability to perform good customer service.

The gentlemen got me in and my truck diagnosed in less than an hour. That was counting the 3 people ahead of me. And instead of ripping off an lady he stood there and explained the different types oil and which would be best for her car and even gave her a 5.00 discount. Very nice and caring if you ask me.

Tried to tell me both front driver and passenger controll arms/ lower ball joints needed to be replaced. Apparently they did not look too close at my car history. They had replaced the passenger side about 35,000 miles ago. Took car home. Driver side lower ball joint does have some play too it. I will replace myself for $15.00.
