On 10/3/15 my wife and I purchased a scratch and dent refrigerator from the Sears Outlet. This unit was for our rental unit. 2 weeks after the purchase, we were notified by our tenant that the defrost cycle was not working in the freezer. The food and ice would partial thaw and then re-freeze. We called Sears Customer Service and they arranged for a local firm to make the service call. The tech came out and advised us to maintain the settings on the unit and no further action was taken. A few weeks later (assuming that our tenant was dealing with this situation), advised us again that the problem was continuing. So, we called Sears Customer Service again. This time, they told us that it would be a week until they could get a tech out. Believing that was too long of a scheduling, we contact the same local firm to come out again. They did and this time they ordered the thermostat controller and in within a day or so, the parts were replaced and the unit was working. Until 1/19/16, when our tenant advised us of the same situation. We called Sears Customer Service again, and again it was going to take a week before a tech could come out. Additionally, they advised us that here was no history documented on their end since this was the 3rd call into them. When we purchased the unit 3 months earlier, the sales rep advised us that if the same situation occurred, that Sears would replace the unit. We contacted the local firm that repaired back in November and they did come out 2 days later. They advised us that they would have to reorder the same parts again and install them again. That was the Sears procedure. That is where it stands. We are afraid that we are stuck with a $600 lemon. Needless to say we will never purchase from Sears or Sears Outlet again. We figure for the hassles we have with this unit, it was the least for us to do was to give fair warning. **** After 3 weeks of continued issues with Sears Customer Service, we continued to be supplied disinformation and lied to about the process of getting a replacement unit. We call 3 days in a row about the voucher refund. The first two calls, customer service reps advised that they would process this matter. When we call the third and final time, the rep advised that the voucher was cancelled and that we had to go directly to the Outlet Store. Tomorrow, we are left with heading back to this Sears Outlet and try to hash out the issue since Sears Customer Service is not taking ownership of the problem. Again, Sears Outlet is a franchise, Sears Customer Service will not provide any sort of resolution (refund, voucher, credit, etc.). We will continue to push this matter and advise Sears Corporate Offices the extreme poor customer service and lack of ownership for the products they manufacture and sell. We will keep you posted on the progress (if any).
