I've visited the postal museum a few times within a month. First off, it's a beautiful building! ..I'm a former postal stamp collector myself and so it brought back lots of good memories and made me miss my stamp collection. Overall the different exhibitions are interesting and informative. I especially enjoyed the movie about postal/mailing system in the bottom floor. Also, you or your child can start your own stamp collection with 6 free stamps here (ground floor). Neat!

Way more interesting and interactive than you'd expect. There's a letter from the Titanic and the Hindenburg, and many more letters and more from various times and people in history. The Silk Road ... Oldest paper letter ... 1360AD!!! We've been to a lot of the National Museums and this one definitely had a lot of "touchables" for the kids. Interesting perspectives from the was with regard to women second overseas and all in all it is fascinating to see how our mail actually makes it's way to our postboxes and doorstep. Definitely a must see.

This is a fantastic free Smithsonian museum for the young and old alike. There are many interactive exhibits for kids, and immersive technology to keep their interest, plus a walk back in time stroll through forests to the original Pony Express. Staff are friendly and helpful, and you can take home some free beautiful stamps from every country in the world. There are nice restroom facilities. The parking is tough though, no dedicated facility so either metro to Union Station or Park in the street nearby. We love this museum and our young children do too!

Guided free tours are very informative. There are things to see for adults and children. Exhibits are well designed with interactive components and clear descriptions. It’s very close to Union Station if you have time to kill before you train. You can buy stamps here, even on Sunday.

Very Informative. The experience they have set up there is unbeatable in terms of information and interactivity. For the people who like to touch, they have a table full of sample stamps to take from. For the maker they have a stamp designer set up as well. For the rare stamp lover, there is an expansive archive of stamps waiting to be pored over with enthusiasm and nerdiness. Definitely recommend.
