Welcome to the International Spy Museum....we've been expecting you!

Story

The International Spy Museum opened in Washington, DC on July 19, 2002. It is the only public museum in the United States solely dedicated to espionage and the only one in the world to provide a global perspective on an all-but-invisible profession that has shaped history and continues to have a significant impact on world events. The Museum features the largest collection of international espionage artifacts ever placed on public display. Many of these objects are being seen by the public for the first time. These artifacts illuminate the work of famous spies and pivotal espionage actions as well as help bring to life the strategies and techniques of the men and women behind some of the most secretive espionage missions in world history. The mission of the International Spy Museum is to educate the public about espionage in an engaging way and to provide a context that fosters understanding of its important role in and impact on current and historic events. The Museum focuses on human intelligence and reveals the role spies have played in world events throughout history. It is committed to the apolitical presentation of the history of espionage in order to provide visitors with nonbiased, accurate information.

The International Spy Museum is easily accessible by Washington, DC's Metrorail system. The closest Metro station is the Gallery Place/Chinatown stop, served by the RED,YELLOW and GREEN lines. Also nearby is the Metro Center station, served by the ORANGE, BLUE, and RED lines.

Me and my brother (both in our twenties) had a blast here! We bought tickets to do the extra Spy Mission and had tons of fun. It's not really hard but very interactive and it definitely gets you into the spy spirit. The museum itself is very fun too, there's a lot of interactive stuff you can do, things that will leave you in awe, educational parts... We were inside for four hours and still had to rush a bit at the end. Definitely worth its price!

It was pretty neat inside here with all the historical spy items they had and the facts you could learn about from when spies first came about to modern day spies. There is a bunch of James Bond stuff a whole floor. At the very beginning of the tour you are told to learn an alias you may be questioned and we never were just was kind of a bummer I wanted to see what they would ask but it was the end of the day and a few big tours had just came through so it was alright.

This place was very fun!! Although many people would prefer an escape room, (note, I have never done an escape room before) it was very entertaining with the mission. I really liked how they had action, running, sneaking, etc. Most of all, I loved how they decorated it. I just loved it so much, and I hope you do too!

This was an awesome experience! We took our 13 and 9 year old and they both had fun, the younger enjoyed the kids hunt for clues, while the older enjoyed more of the history aspect. Many hands on activities which makes it a very fun museum. I gave it 4 stars because of the price and how crowded it is at each activity, we spent a lot of time just waiting our turn, after we had to wait 30 minutes just to get in. I would recommend it, but I think its a one time experience, the other museums in DC are free and I've visited them many times over.

We had a blast! Lots of interactive exhibits. Operation Spy was a great hit with the group (12 & 13 years old), definitely worth the extra $5 on top of the regular admission fee.The staff was kind/courteous, it was clean (bathrooms), not terribly crowded (weekday). I would go back again in a heartbeat. I’m kind of sorry I waited so long to go in the first place.
