I can’t get tired of visit this museum, the building is beautiful, the permanent collection is top-notch and it host many interesting temporary exhibits. You can spend an hour or many days because it’s free and it’s never crowded. You can download the app and enjoy the audio tour or just go to the front desk and get a free audio guide. And if you get hungry there is a restaurant with many options in the ground level. There’s also a nice cafeteria in the first floor.

I can't believe I missed this place on all my many visits to DC! Maybe it's because in years past we traveled with young children. We found ourselves in DC on a rainy few days in February. Having been to most of the other attractions we decided on the National Gallery on our last day. It was an amazing experience to see so many famous works of art up close and personal! The museum is magnificent and admission is free! We definitely plan to return.

I'm a huge fan of Calder and modern art, so the East Building is always such a delight. Also, the Multiverse installation (in the underground walkway between the two buildings) is mesmerizing. Definitely give yourself and/or your family enough time to explore and enjoy the entire museum. It's easy to lose a couple hours wandering through all the exhibits.

It's fun every single time. Great place to visit if you are on a trip to Washington DC. They have food and good number of restrooms inside, so no worries about it. Typically you will end up spending half of your day here to see everything here. If you are an art enthusiast then you will spend one full day here. It's not crowded any time as this place does not attract many children.

Donated by Andrew Carnegie, or so Mr. History tells us, the National Gallery is not an official Smithsonian Museum though it shares space on the National Mall. There are many great pieces here, notably Cezanne portraits, a Van Gogh self portrait, and many more. Monet, Renoir, Degas. Also beautiful sculptures and a lovely setting. Please no food or drinks. This free gallery is an excellent choice among many. One can spend an hour and barely see the big pieces. A half or full day can afford a relaxed perusal
