Solitude Cabins...not just a name, but a feeling.

Story

1200 square foot/ 2 bedroom cabins (king size beds). Each cabin has a fully equipped kitchen, with pots, pans, china, silver, crock pots, blenders and full size appliances. Washer and dryer in each unit, gas grill on the deck, patio furniture. Cable TV, wifi. Each cabin is furnished with mountain décor. Located 2.5 miles from downtown Estes Park and a 10 minute drive to RMNP. Peaceful and quite location.

Our stay at Solitude Cabins was simply a delight! The cabin was exceptionally clean, tastefully decorated with mountain decor and was very well appointed for our stay. Towels were super soft, the kitchen had all the basic needed supplies--salt/pepper, sweetener/sugar, dishes, coffee maker and great variety of pots, pans and utensils. The upstairs room had baseboard heaters so that room could be kept warmer than the rest of cabin. It was quiet and peaceful with elk passing through at least twice a day. A DVD player was not available and would have been appreciated for quiet family evenings. Tip :Upon making your reservation, you might ask about the location of your rental until. We had a wonderful location, but some units are directly on the parking area. Cabins off the road and parking area have more privacy. Also, be sure to make your hot tub reservations during office hours.

We recently hosted a family reunion at Solitude. Due to the nature of a big family event we had some shifting of attendees and therefore number of needed cabins. Ultimately we didn't need a couple of the cabins we had reserved. Some of the deposit money from the cabins we let go of was refunded and some of it applied to the cabins we were keeping. Although the cabins were all being paid with one credit card, each cabins' charge and refund was charged to the credit card company separately. This created some confusion for me as to what had been paid, and what was still owed. I called and spoke with Kay three weeks before our arrival to make sure I understood the charges and exactly what we still owed. I found doing this with Kay to be quite challenging although we did come up with a number that we both agreed was correct. Unfortunately, during our stay when I went it to sign the credit card receipts they did not add up to the agreed amount. In fact they were significantly more! Frustrating! Kay pulled me out of our main family event to discuss the payment issue with her. We had rented their pavilion, so I was onsite. During this discussion I was scolded for being angry that the bill was not what we had agreed upon, Kay made a very big fuss because I had discarded the credit card slips I was contesting, she insinuated that I was lying to her about the whereabouts of another family member, in addition to being generally condescending. As you might imagine this interaction with Kay put a huge damper on the family event for myself and a number of my family members. On Kay's notes from the day of our conversation three weeks earlier, she had the amount we had agreed upon circled with the word DUE next to it. Yet, she was unable to explain why she was charging us more. I had to figure that out on my own after I had returned home and had access to the credit card statements. What I didn't know and what Kay had been unable to explain to me was that Kay had refunded some of the deposit money a few days after our conversation effectively negating the agreed upon amount due on arrival. There are great places to stay in Estes where agreements are kept, you are treated with respect and their accounting staff can have an intelligent conversation with you about your bill. I would suggest you look elsewhere for your accommodations!

Solitude cabins was a fantastic choice for our stay here in Estes Park the cabins are a short drive from Town and the lake making it convenient for any activities we had planned. The area is quiet and feels isolated, which made sitting on the deck and enjoying the scenery even better. The Cabins are also clean, well maintained, and we'll furnished. We loved our stay here.

No stars. I would never return. The property was stifling hot, no fans, no air conditioning. My husband almost had to be hospitalized due to the heat in the cabin. The fumes and dust from the construction was horrible. Because we had a service dog for my hearing impaired husband we were intentionally placed in a west facing cabin. There were no operating smoke alarms in the cabin. Just a waste of money. We go to Estes Park every year and thought we would try a new property. My advice is to stay clear of this property.
