A most unique stop directly off I-77. If you have a few minutes to spare it’s a nice place to explore. Many unusual handcrafted items. They have some display areas to watch items being made and even offer classes. There is a cafeteria type food area with ample seating. There are also areas available for weddings and meetings.
We went here one morning. It’s easy off/ on from the highway and has plenty of parking. As the name suggests it’s a marketplace and not a art museum etc. This is a place with a good variety of artists hand crafted items for sale. Some of the items are hand made tables, lamps, jewelry, candles etc. There’s also a local shop that makes hand blown glasses, bowls etc. Besides selling the items you can make your own. It’s done with their help and guidance but it’s a lot of fun and doesn’t take long. I made a glass and it came out great. Besides the shopping area there’s a restaurant with really good food.
What a great place to take a break from the road. Amazing art pieces. From quilts to custom furniture, paintings and a bookstore. They also have a dining area - don’t think it’s a wait staff restaurant but it may be more of counter service. I just saw a good amount of tables .
This is a high tech artisans store in a beautiful round-about so it is impossible to get lost. Inside of the circle of art and crafts is an open air snack and sit down area. Outside are awesome sculptures, a music stage and playground for kids in addition to ample parking. But the main draw is the talent in the middle. Everything station is one-of-a-kind. There are amazing bowls and sculptures in wood, blown glass You can make your own blown glass art. Repurposed iron turned into tables and sculpture, pottery, musical instruments and so much more. If it's made in West Virginia and meets exacting standards it is at Tamarack.
Such a cute place to stop in! A lot of one of a kind handmade gifts, everything from soaps to home decor and anything in between. Great for shopping any time of year but even more so for Christmas shopping. And their cafe has some delicious food. I tried the fried green tomatoes sandwich. They could have been fried harder but it was still delicious regardless. They have a nice size menu of various options to chose from
Amazing collection of locally made arts and crafts. Great place for unusual one of a kind high-end handmade gifts. There is a restaurant and a nice courtyard in the middle of the circular building. Easy to walk through the whole thing.
This place is amazing. If you want to get all of you holiday gifts taken care of in one spot, this is the place. Let it not be confused with the traffic rest area in the same area, look for the peaked red roof. Everything from photographs, woodworking, glass blowing you can watch them make your gift, fiestaware, West Virginia souvenirs, macrame, and so much more. And to top it off a classic car show outside, and an amazing place to eat and live music too.
A must visit spot in WV. Even if you only have a short amount of time. TAMARACK isn't a place you leave empty handed. Bringing local WV art, food, decor, history, culture, and just plain WV hospitality to one location. Thank you for making such a wonderful place exist
Interesting site, Easy to find. Unique pieces. The building is right off one of the major road and is easy to get to from the road. In fact it can be seen from several road. There are signs that lead to parking and there seems to be plenty of parking. This is like an art store, a glass factory and a business had a baby. It is an interesting store in many ways. Outside the round building has large triangular pieces that jut out from the building roof. It is surrounded by the Tamarack open air gallery. Inside the building is a circular design around an open atrium. The walkway is very pretty inside with beautiful art of all types. There is woodworking, painting, ceramics and food. It is all displayed in a vaulted room that has a lot of natural light around the central displays. The floor design is very pretty tile and carpet interspaced. We did not end up buying anything since the prices seemed high. This is a good place to see if you have never been to West VA as it has some art of local artists and a glass blowing furnace that was operating when we visited.
The Tamarack is an experience that anyone, be they a WV local or traveller, should take the opportunity to enjoy. The welcoming atmosphere and kindness of the staff is unmatched anywhere in WV. On Sundays, and hopefully all days soon, there is a whole area for food and drinks. The Holiday season brought professional carollers. The two wonderful women, Amanda and Joy iirc, were SO kind to my wife and daughter. I have never been anywhere in the whole world where people have been that friendly and accomodating. My family looks forward to going there every chance we get.
