I love this hotel.  It has that quintessential old New York feel.  Room have been updated and bed is very comfortable.  Like anywhere in Times Square area, the rooms themselves are quite small - so you must expect that.  The breakfast is fabulous and staff very friendly.  They even have a cat that hangs out in the lobby

Lovely quaint hotel with old NYC charm, beautiful lobby, exceptional service, the Bell men are very kind, thorough and very personable. Not to mention the adorable resident cat who is welcoming as well! He is  in one area so no worries if you have any allergies. Parking is right across the street and not expensive.If driving in from the Lincoln tunnel its really easy! Driving was easier and cheaper than taking a car or train for myself living about 45mins away. Strongly recommend the Algonquin Hotel!

The bed was very comfortable and the location was right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Times Square. I didn't quite feel like the room and the experience was worth the price. Our window went to the wall of the next building and the room and bathroom were very small. The cost would have taken me much further even in South Beach, Miami where a stay at the W (with their huge rooms and coastal views) would have been less expensive . Still, it was nice to experience even if we wouldn't do it again.

I loved the history and uniqueness of this hotel. I loved that a cat named Hamlet hangs out in the lobby. The cat also sent a gift to my room, which was unexpected. My room was well-decorated and delightful. My only criticism is that I experienced very loud construction noise all night during my stay in January 2018. It wasn’t really the hotel’s fault, because the construction was not in the hotel. I would just recommend that you ask someone at check-in which rooms are furthest from the construction noise.

Historic NYC hotel. I stopped by for a drink after work and before a show. It’s a relaxing atmosphere and the staff was attentive. The drinks were good but pricy. They used to have a resident cat. Not sure if the cat is still around. I know the city gave them a hard time about a cat in the lobby. I didn’t see a cat on my visit but did on previous visits. I didn’t go to see a cat but I always thought it added to the historic and relaxing atmosphere of the lobby. If you are in the neighborhood and have time to kill. Stop in for a drink. Next time I will have to stay at the hotel and add to my review.
