The Chanler at Cliff Walk is a waterfront luxury hotel housed in a mansion on Newport’s famed Cliff Walk. Originally built for the great granddaughter of John Jacob Astor and owned by New York Congressman John Winthrop Chanler, this European-styled boutique hotel in Newport, RI is infused with history from top to bottom. For more than five decades, the mansion was a summertime retreat for The Chanler family who hosted such guests as Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and President Theodore Roosevelt. As a result, the mansion quickly became an emblem of Newport history and remains as such in present day.
