My favorite museum in the West. My mother is from Italy and I've always been fond of ancient art. Los Angeles is very lucky to have such a collection here, and it is all presented in a replica of a Roman Villa. It's being renovated now (2017) so some of the museum is closed. Be patient. It will be amazing again. The Cafe is also a nice place for a peaceful lunch.

Went to see some exhibits and enjoyed our time here. Great museum. 👍 They do a really great job of curating great work and exhibits. There is a beautiful courtyard to relax and enjoy some water features. You can sit and enjoy the beautiful setting and take your time as you go from exhibit to exhibit. Take your camera and be ready to take lots of photos.

Great place to go. Pleasant environment. Lots of good historical and cultural information. Great for kids to be exposed to items from older cultures and civilizations. Worth spending several hours there, which is easy to do if you read all the information and placards that accompany each exhibit.

I visited last week. I only had time for eating at the cafe and visiting the gardens. I did not visit the museum. I came by bus. If you do not come by car, you will need to wait at the bottom of the hill for a shuttle to take you up to the entrance (and back down). A little inconvenient to wait for it, but I think it may be a safety measure since there are no sidewalks. The food at the cafe was quite good. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. Unfortunately, the main fountain was under renovation when I visited (apparently it'll be complete in early 2018). The staff were friendly.

The Villa is only for antiquities. I've always loved the Getty Villa. It is closed one weekday. You have to go online or call for reservations; while doing so check on exhibits. A great gift shop down stairs, and good restaurant upstairs.
