Just got back from three wonderful nights at the Mill House Grand..and "Grand" it is...we used one day to drive into Savannah and back because of the short distance. It was nice to have a valet park your car after a long day of sightseeing.. Every thing was perfect. It is within walking distance of EVERYTHING Charleston including some great restaurants, if you choose not to dine at the hotel.. The lobby and grounds were elegant and upscale but "comfortable" ( but not "snooty" ... if you know what I mean). All the staff was amazing and if you get to meet "Clarence"....please do. Breakfast was wonderful and we highly recommend the omelets.

From the outside and in the lobby of the hotel it looks like you’re in for a special kind of stay. Immediately upon walking into the room you recognize the opposite effect... first and foremost, the first attempt was met with a set of double beds which were supposed to be a single king. We returned to the front desk to have the room changed to what we had ordered online (separate booking company) only to find out that there was an additional $25 charge for the room that we had already paid for to have a king bed. Rather than fighting after a long day of driving we just paid the charge and headed for the elevator again. Upon entry into the second room, we found yet again that we were walking into a room with double beds.. again! We headed back downstairs to get switched again into an appropriate room. Third time’s a charm! Finally got into a king suite.. which we ordered originally and then paid $25 extra for. Room was sufficient for what we needed but was no dazzling accommodation we expected to receive as it was looking like it had been well used over the years as the bed had slouching indentions in it as if the mattress was on its last leg. Out dated furniture and bathroom and all fixtures were hardly worth the original amount we paid. Let alone the extra $25. No real charm inside the rooms at all and uncomfortable. So after a mediocre night of no sleep we went to check out only to find that the hotel had charged us twice for the room in addition to the $25. They claimed to have discounted one of the charges. Now back home, we noticed yet again another charge in addition to the credited charge being charged a day after we had left the hotel for no apparent reason. As if, the crappy stay wasn’t bad enough. A slap in the face to have to sit on the phone with them again arguing with the booking company about the illegitamate charges on our card. Only perks were the proximity to everything downtown. Otherwise, they’d get 1 star as far as I’m concerned. Better hotels worth your money downtown with a far better experience.

A beautiful hotel.. very historic. Very friendly staff.. clean.. perfect service.. right in the middle of the fun city.. walking distance to everything.. I can't say enough good things.

Every person employed here during our stay were pleasant and helpful. Gaston our bellman, went above and beyond for us. He also retrieved ice for us so we could enjoy a cold drink. The Decor needs update, room is large and comfortable.

Location is perfect for walking around downtown. Beautifully kept historical building. Fabulous staff. Clean and comfortable room. I'd come back.
