The view and location cannot get any better. Our unit (8) looked like it was recently refurbished and was very nice and clean, comfortable bed. Kitchen is a bit dated but functional. Could use a DVD player and an extra lounger on the deck.

The view is fabulous. The location is good for food and drink. There are a couple spots that have happy hour during the week. There's The Fishermans restaurant on the pier that has happy hour 4-7pm with different deals each day, usually with a $4 meal. I had the bbq chicken on Wednesday and it was delicious. Pierside restaurant also has happy hour 3-6pm with varying deals. Cheapest meal we saw was $8. Both have base drinks i.e. spirit and mixer for $5. Pierside has $15 bottomless mimosas (served for 2 hours from when you start) on sat and sun during brunch which is 10am to 2pm. Otherwise the area is more expensive than your average place. There is a train line that runs through san clemente that can be noisy. Otherwise it's a good spot.

The location could not have been better.  For $299 a night though, the quality of the room and customer service was severely lacking.  The sink would not shut off - I had to turn off the valve for the cold water.  I had no place to park for the first two nights.  When I parked in their no parking spot for a few hours - they called my home number and threatened to tow my car - instead of knocking on the door and asking me to move.  Really?

Still for my family of 7, it was cheaper than getting two rooms at an adjacent hotel.  It was also very nice to have a fully stocked kitchen so we didn't have to eat out all the time.  The maid service even washed our dishes.

The service and view were excellent; however the furniture was cheap. We stayed in #1 unit at the Villa Del Mar. The so called couch sat two people and it looked like outside patio furniture. It was so uncomfortable. After sleeping on the bed my hips, back and shoulders feel out of alignment. Im still trying to recover two days later! Also, the worse part is that it was our first time away from our 17 month old. We were so looking forward to a good night sleep. That sure didnt happen. The unit above partied until 4 am! There is absolutely no insulation so you can hear them walking around and hear them talking. We were so exhausted the next day! Really disappointed and if anything would recommend staying on the top floor.
