Story

When choosing a vet, your pet deserves someone looking after them who cares about them as much as you do. Since 1996, Dr. Dan and his knowledgeable team have been treating every animal with fur, feathers, or scales. When someone needs husbandry advice for their potbelly pigs, they come to us. And when they need ultrasounds performed on their koi, we’ve got them covered too. We even deliver antibiotics to eagles when they’ve hurt their talons! We’re a clinic that loves animals of all shapes, sizes, and species, and we’d love to meet your pet and get them feeling better today.

This place is wonderful. The knowledge the vet has is incredible and they treated my turtle with great care. The staff was also welcoming and made us feel like we knew them forever. If you need a vet for an exotic animal, GO HERE! It's not worth taking a chance on a vet that usually only sees cats and dogs. Thank you guys and gals!

I have always had great experiences here. I've been coming here since I moved to Cary about six months ago. The vets really seem to care about my two guinea pigs, and they have never been anything but nice, helpful, and knowledgeable.
They are a tad expensive, but given the level of care they show, I don't mind that too much. The option to use CreditCare is pretty awesome.

But I have to say that my most recent experience was not a great one. I visited family for Thanksgiving and needed to board my guinea pigs for 5 days.
I called up the office and was told that the price would be $20 per day for my two piggies ($100 overall), which is about twice the price I would've paid for boarding at the Pet Pad, which is reasonable.

The actual bill ended up being a little over $200. I was charged for an initial exam and nail trimming for both pigs, and an extra $8 per day for my second guinea pig.
I am more than thankful for the care shown to my piggies, but the pricing is a little outrageous and I would not have taken them here for boarding had I known.

Just thought I'd share my experience for those thinking about boarding here. Exceptional service, but too pricey.

I felt like they were professional, friendly, and efficient. At no point in the process did they keep me waiting. I was particularly impressed with how gingerly they handled my piggy, Winston! We were in and out in about 45 minutes total. Would definitely recommend.

We made a 2 and a half hour drive for the amazing doctors at Avian and Exotic! They took absolutely amazing care of my boys, Thor and Loki (ferrets). They've been having some pretty debilitating gastrointestinal issues and I'm so happy we decided to make the drive. They were kind, knowledgeable and very helpful and willing to discuss, at length, the various problems and solutions. Loved all of them!

Great place to bring pets. Although I have never been to another exotic vet, I do feel like their prices are a little high. I feel like instead of asking you to pay separately for blood work and other labs and keeping on piling on the price with the more services you add, that they should have a all-inclusive package at a reduced rate.
