Our party of 9 came to Carnal to celebrate a birthday. The food was excellent. Our waitress did a great job explaining the menu and breaking down which items were gluten free as half the party follows a gluten free diet. We ended up ordering about 5 apps for the group. For entrees, the short rib, hangar steak, and halibut were all excellent selections. The steak was very tender and the carrots were delicious. The tomato appetizer was very unique and the entire group loved it as well. Compliments to the chef and wait staff alike!

Exceptional! We have loved every meal we have had at Carnal. Always fun to come and see the changes they have made to the menu. One of Bellingham’s BEST restaurants, if not the best! We love their outdoor patio and prefer to dine outside it can be pretty noisy indoors sometimes, hard to have a conversation over dinner, and appreciate their covered patio and heaters in the winter. We have also brought our dog to the outdoor dining area in the summertime. Our favorite way to dine at Carnal is to order a couple entrees and multiple small plates to share. Cannot recommend it more!

Amazing food and service at Carnal. Such a gem of an upscale restaurant in downtown Bellingham. Everyone was friendly and while food took a bit to come out, it tasted so good when it did. Would definitely recommend the pork dish and the squash dish as our favorites. Drinks were really good too.

I am VERY VERY picky about food and pretty much everything else. We actually don't eat out often due to me being so picky. I rarely order meat when we go out. We ordered the shitake mushrooms and cauliflower for starters and both were super tasty. For the main dish, I ordered the beef short ribs. They were literally AMAZING. Cooked and seasoned to perfection. What a pleasant surprise. My husband had the halibut and it was good but nothing compared to my beef ribs. 10/10 I highly recommend!!

Great ambiance, food, and cocktail! Flavors on the hanger steak were perfect and the cocktail was original and well-balanced. Just in Thyme. Downside is that the entree portions were small, and the menu didn’t explain them. I had heard that this was the place to be in Bellingham and holy moly was it true! They were so busy for a Monday night, and the servers were great. So friendly and made us feel super welcome and comfortable even though they had so much going on. Our main courses took a while to come out but the appetizers were so yummy and it was worth the wait to eat the halibut. I had a couple mocktails and my coworker has good wine so he says. I would highly recommend this place for a date night or business meeting. It has a fun vibe to it and they handle the chaos of a busy restaurant very well. We also were able to eat outside, which I loved since it's summer!

The place is busy, but they accept reservations for group of 2 and more. The menu is small but unique. The cost of the main dishes was $27-$34. Will definitely go there again.

5 stars to the chefs, the food was superb and just what I needed on my birthday today! The 3 stars is for the wait staff. Just a piece of advice, try not to judge your guests on how they look. Everyone deserves to be treated the same, despite how they may appear to you. We come for the love of food and local harvests to excite our palletes, keep that in mind when serving your community.

Carnal had amazing food! The chicken wings, broccolini, pork ragu pasta, and the roasted cheesecake were the highlights! I would've given it 5 stars, but the restaurant was *really* loud when it was busy. I took my Husband for his birthday dinner. We started with the duck fat potatoes   which were crispy and delicious. I had the pork collar and he had the steak. The food was amazing. I'm not big on cocktails but the ones we had were both tasty.  We had the dark chocolate mousse for dessert and it was heavenly.  My husband said it was the best food he has ever had. If you're looking for a nice ambiance and friendly staff this is a great place to go and have a nice night out.
