Very solid restaurant! Great oysters! Had the tataki and scallops for appetizer, perfectly crispy top layer with tenderness inside. We also tried their duck and ribeye- both are great. I do think the entree portion is on the smaller size. Love to come back
Loved every dish and drink we had here! Great cocktails and wine selection. The oysters were fresh and delicious. We also had the scallops, the poutine with pork belly, the ribeye steak, and the chocolate torte. Everything was amazing!Recommended dishesChocolate Torte, 1 2 Dozen Raw Oysters, Poutine
The 2 of us ordered a dozen oysters and split 4 of each of the 3 choices so we could try them all. They were all very fresh but our favourite was Judd Cove. The Oysters Rockefeller was so good. We both loved it. We also really liked the Beet Salad. It was very refreshing. The Oyster Chowder was meh. We felt it didn’t have much flavour. The Albacore Tataki was excellent and very fresh. But it had a sauce that was a little sweet and we would have preferred a savoury sauce. The Seared Scallops were delicious and perfectly cooked. They were tender and juicy inside. It’s pricey here compared to other restaurants that have comparable or better dishes though.
Always fresh oysters, creative non-alcoholic drinks, delicious fare, and very friendly service. Comfy outdoor balcony seating in nice weather. Had the cauliflower, polenta, & mushroom main. So good! And noticed you could buy a bottle of Chateau Montelena chardonnay. Watch the movie Bottle Shock.
A restaurant located in the heart of Bellingham downtown one of the few restaurants that was described in the blog that caught my attention and I came to try. Based on the restaurant's name surely it has specialty dishes with oyster. The recommended dishes were beef carpaccio and pan-fried oysters. My friend and I were relatively disappointed with the pan fried oysters the oysters are fresh and yummy; however, the fried layer is a bit too hard and thick. The beef capaccio was fine. By the end of the day, I was actually impressed by randomly ordered oyster chower. It was not spectacular but it was nice and delicious.
If you're up for a phenomenal dinner in a casual setting, definitely come to rock and rye. Our food was spectacular and our server was even better. She had our food fired at the exact right time. We will be back.
Great food and deliciously inventive cocktails, music wasn't too loud for conversation, and plenty of space if you show up after about 7:30 or so. Menu is a little bit on the small side but what they do, they do well.
Good food at a reasonable price. Wine not so much. $12 for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc is criminal. The HH mussels were very good. The corn and clam chowder was okay, but you get the feeling they are trying to stretch out the clam chowder with filler. The scallops were good. Dessert selection was small and not appealing. The back patio is nice, but it overlooks an alley filled with dumpsters. Service was good.
Simply put, one of the BEST meals in my life. From the appetizer of seared peppers with sesame, tomatoes with cheese and bread to a SIMPLY SENSATIONAL oyster offering including the Rockefeller, pan fried and then one with mushroom and crust......wow! Dessert of the pannacotta and the chocolate torte was unbelievable! Our young server, so sincere and anxious to please us and surrounding tables was delightful! An amazing dining experience for $100 including a wine and a draft beer! The outside deck environment, charming, reminded me of eating in Italy.
Food was good. Happy Hour oysters was wonderful! Mussels had nice sauce and so fresh!
