Pretty awesome place to eat. Don't be put off by the weird and dingy interior. Loved the food, great flavor. Would give 10 stars but only giving 5 because the tea isn't sweet. Andrew is also a great server.
We got the biscuits and gravy and the Benny Browns and 10 out of 10 would recommend. It's classically good. The service is quick and the food is priced very reasonably.
Super friendly staff, where else can you go to get French toast or a delicious burger till 3am? Got the bbq western burger which had fresh tomato, crisped onion straws, and medium cooked beef on it. Amazing food before or after a bar crawl. Great vibes with historic Bellingham photos beside each booth.
This place is super good and they really give you a good amount of food for the price, not a lot of brunch places have good coffee but this place is good. Staff is nice and the aesthetics of the place is super cool. classic diner vibe.
Food was good, but relatively unremarkable. But good, especially for the price and the staff was attentive and generally pleasant. We've been back a few times even though it's a bit dusty. It's kind of just a favorite, you know what you're going to get and it's good. I have ordered the chicken and waffles multiple times.Food: 4/5
My boyfriend and I had one of our first dates at the Horseshoe, so we have fond memories of grabbing diner food at 2 a.m., but after this visit it seems like all we'll have going forward is fond memories. The service and food had been steadily declining throughout our previous visits, but today we decided to give it one last try. When we arrived around 1 p.m. there were about three other tables with maybe seven people. It took a minute or two for the waitress to come seat us. No big deal. Not even a problem, really. I ordered coffee and a slice of apple pie. She asked if I would like the pie heated and I said please. My boyfriend ordered the savory chicken and waffles. She brought my coffee after a couple of minutes. Could have been a little quicker, but so far I'm not complaining. I've never worked in a restaurant, so I try to give people a lot of leeway because I understand it can be stressful. When I finally got the pie I took one bite and knew I wasn't going to eat it. I swear to God I'm not being dramatic when I say it had the distinct taste of wet dog. Also, this was a slice of pie which had definitely not been heated up. Okay, that's one little complaint. They finally got out the chicken and waffles for my guy, and it's not the savory order, it's the sweet one. Okay, he doesn't like to complain either. Meanwhile, I'm banking on this free refill of coffee to tide me over in lieu of the food that I ordered, but I never got a refill. When my bf dug into the chicken and waffles, our whole experience fell apart, much like batter on the chicken, to reveal the sad, dried strip of meat within. Inside of this mass of fried chicken was a small, chewy chicken tender, so slender that it would have been funny if we didn't have to pay for it. This is it. We are never coming back to the Horseshoe cafe again. I'm not one to ever leave reviews, but this experience was so disappointing that I felt compelled to let someone know. What are you doing to this restaurant? Do you want people to come here? "Horseshoe? More like horsesh*t."- My boyfriend
Amazing fish and chips is a great meal choice, but also has great burgers, sandwiches, brews, and more... Good check it out at Holly st. Near Railroad Ave.
Found this place on google. Was busy at first but became less so after 15 - 30 minutes. We should have picked up on issues early but we were patient and expected it to be slow. However, no one running diner/kitchen and you could see staff were confused and things running poorly. Food was ready and sat with no pick up. Servers couldn’t figure out which food was going to which table. Had to ask twice for coffee refill. After over an hour we asked if our food was started. No one could tell us and it apparently was not even on the horizon. ETA uncertain so we left very hungry and disappointed. Won’t go back.
A group of friends and I came in for brunch today, and from the time we entered the restaurant, it took a full hour for our food to arrive. I've worked restaurants myself, I understand what it's like to be in an overwhelmed kitchen, but there's not much of a justification for a fifty minute wait after ordering. In general, it felt like service was doing their bare minimum, and we went pretty much unattended the entire wait. When our food did arrive, it was underwhelming and disappointing. The breakfast sandwiches and hash were underseasoned, and nothing was really worth the wait. I wouldn't have had a problem with a lot of this if the food weren't also so expensive. I spent $20 for a single waffle with a piece of fried chicken on top, and then had to wait an hour for it to arrive. This may be the oldest Cafe in Washington state, but it seems that their quality has dropped off considerably.
Lol ok so it’s dirty. It’s historic. It desperately needs to wipe its condiments down with some Lysol…. But the staff here is great considering some of the awful lost souls that come in here. The food is fantastic, the beer is cold and the variety is swell. The meat is terrible but you know what? They can still put a gold chain on a pig. Yea the burger was a bit chewy… but the ingredients were fresh and the seasoning and bun was excellent. The lady that served us around 4pm was a delight despite a total c*nt treating her awful. And the price for a burger and beer wasn’t bad during happy hour. What I would say to the owner is that this place is a total dive. Don’t think you can get away with 15$ burgers and 7$ pints. If I were looking for a dive with good prices and cleaner surroundings and a great view I’d go to the waterfront tavern. Now that place is cool!
