Cherry Springs is by far one of the most underrated state parks in Pennsylvania! I was there in 2016 over the summer for two nights and it was beautiful. The milky way was visible to our naked eyes. Surreal. I've never seen anything like it even after having been to many national parks/natural places. Be sure to check the lunar calendar before you go- you want to go when the moon isn't showing to guarantee you see the most stars (moon light). Bring a blanket. Check the weather to make sure the skies are clear.

This place is known for its night skies for a good reason. I saw one of the best views of the milky way during my visit here. The locals in the nearby towns are also really helpful, and one of the store owners handed me a pretty useful kit which had red filters for mobile devices and flashlights, and a lot of useful information about the park.

Oh my goodness, you need to go here. Late at night when the stars are bright.... If feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere. So beautiful! Grab some blankets and popcorn watch the stars fall!

PA is a beautiful state, which made me think that maybe I was in Kansas when I saw this big flat field they call a “park.” As for the sky? It’s everywhere. Big deal.

Great place for star gaslight and a great county to relax and get away from the everyday stresses of life any season of the year.
