Story

City Pets is innovative pet store that prides itself on a vast amount of dry/live good selection. We strive to be leaders in providing quality products at a great price. When you come to City Pets, its an unique experience no other store can provide. We have a large selection of freshwater fish, saltwater fish, corals, birds, and much more. There are always new shipments of livestock each week. We usually receive at least eight shipments of fish a week from throughout the world. We do offer custom order tanks and products. We welcome you to drop by and just check us out.

How we came about: City Pets came about in 1997, after 14 years of service as Fish-N-Pet. The name change was due to the fact that others stores were popping up in the Houston area using the name Fish-N-Pet and claiming that we were the same store or family trying to build there clientele. As for the beginning, my parents started their pet store back in 1984 after my dad got laid off from work. They wanted to open a Popeyes in Houston, but they were not franchising in Houston back then. A family friend recommended a pet store, because he had one too. His store was called Fish-N-Pet Center #1, so hence, the store my parents opened was called Fish-N-Pet Center #2. The store started out as a 1000 sq. ft., but there was room to grow. Soon, we expanded by leasing out the next door, and the store was about 2400 sq. ft. Then, we expanded again and leased the store on the other side, and became a 4000 sq. ft. pet store. After rising rent costs, we were fortunate to be able to build our own building and create a new name store called City Pets.

What we offer: A unique pet store that sells pet supplies for dogs, cats, fish, birds, small animals, reptiles, and ponds. Livestock that we carry are fish, birds, rabbits, hamsters, iguanas, and corals. We DO NOT sell dogs or cats.
