French Embassy in LA: Most people say that Paris is a city of love and romance... but unfortunately, my experience with the staff have showed differently. Without any sign of love and compassion, they will consider you or your case as a mere "number" to their stack of files(by the way, you will easily find them literally on the floors just behind the french interviewers). Being an extension of their own government and home country, I find staff here too inconsiderate! It is possibly due to the number of applicants that they cater each day that lack of empathy for their clients (even to urgent and pressing circumstances) are undeniably obvious located in every corner of the french embassy. Unlike any other embassies, here you wont feel so much welcome nor expect to be treated with the standard hospitality (beware the first-hand experience of a FRENCH hospitality if you dare). They will not hesitate to inform you right away that your case shall be delayed or worst denied (unlike in other embassies that you will see staff to at least try or even take their time to find solutions or flex if needed based on the urgency of your needs)... its either because they have few numbers of personnel that can cater the demand or simply too slow in processing each individual cases. Going to the main Office of the French Consolate located upstairs wont make you feel better or will make a difference. Phone services or reaching them by phone is definitely another horrible experience (once again you have been warned!!!) Though Paris is a popular place to visit, I highly suggest to avoid this Embassy at all cost and if possible consider other embassies on your Europe trip. If also appicable, refrain France or cut visit days to Paris and simply extend days of visit to another Schengen host countries to qualify you esp in applying for a Visa... wherein other Embassies (like Greek) will treat you well as a person and not merely another disposable paying applicant.

Why are these people even getting paid? Absolutely useless. Taxpayers money being wasted right there. You've been warned French expats.

I was nervous because of the reviews but everything was so easy! I applied for a long stay student visa and went through Campus France first. After their approval, I made an appointment at this consulate and I was sure to have EVERYTHING very well prepared and organized. The lady was very nice and didn't ask me any questions at all. She just took my papers and looked through it as I watched her.. Then she took my fingerprints, picture and money and that was it. I was out in 15 minutes. My visa was processed and mailed to me in 2 business days. Now time to pack!

I recently applied for Schengen French Visa, I did not carry the right paperwork, the consulate informed me what was missing. They were very generous in granting me another appointment. This was a busy period, however they are very prompt in responding to the emails. Once I re-visited, my Visa was awarded in 6 hours. The same day they Fedexed the visas. Quick note for everyone who is applying visas --> Please make sure you follow the rules completely and bring all the right paperwork. The Consulate is very friendly, supportive. I am now really looking forward to visiting Paris and France.
