Story

Camping can hardly get more convenient than at this new KOA, just off I-10 near the Texas Welcome Center and behind Camping World. Big rigs navigate the campground with ease, thanks to 30-foot-wide roads and large pull thnu sites. All sites face north/northeast to take advantage of afternoon shade and the desert-paradise views at the foothills of Franklin Mountains State Park. Scale the mountains via the Wyler Aerial Tramway. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy hiking, birding and four-wheeling. Nearby, you'll find plenty of dining and shopping. Visit historic downtown El Paso. the War Eagles Air Museum, wineries and Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino. Kids love the Wet-N-Wild Waterworld across from the campground. Max pull thru: 80 feet.

We had a great experience at our first KOA. It is easily accessible from I-10 with beautiful views of the Franklin Mountains. The campground and the dog park are very clean. While others have complained about the lack of trees and landscaping, it’s what you would expect in a desert. There’s not much in other “luxuries” but if you’re looking for a safe, clean campground with easy access to state and national parks, this is the place.

Not much for amenities, no pool, store or rec room. It is two huge dirt gravel lots with lots and lots of spaces with lots and lots of space for each space. No trees or playground, didn't see any grass any where. They do have a huge dog park that is well lit at night, fenced and picnic tables with shade. We like this place because it's easy to get in and out, 30/50 amp full hook ups, laundry room, close to whatever store you want to go to, and most important, the price is very reasonable.

We stayed here two years ago and it was new. I don't see very many improvements since then. There is a play area for kids and a dog area, both fenced which are nice. The tent area are several fenced cubicles in a row. Not very inviting. The most glaring error is the lack of bathrooms. There is one small mobile that serves as office, laundry and bathroom. There are only two unisex bathrooms with showers so if two people are showering there are no toilets available!! Totally inadequate for such a large facility. The camping rate of $40 seems a bit much for what you get.

The RV Park is nice but the reservation system didn't work so well. When we arrived there was someone else in our spot and they also had been assigned to it. Luckily there were other spots that we could fit in.

We stay here on our way from Fredericksburg to Arizona. It's great for an overnight, spaces long for big rigs and very level. It has a pretty view of the mountains but the downside is there is not one bit of landscaping, not a tree or a bush in sight. No shade at all.
