This was a small piece paradise! Excellent zoo! My family loved it. We travelled from North Arkansas to see this zoo and it did not disappoint. The prices were very reasonable on entrance fees, snacks and souvenirs. We will definitely be back! Loved the peacocks they were everywhere and made the zoo a delight!

This zoo is absolutely beautiful. It's clean and well kept. The price is reasonable and MOST of the staff were extremely helpful and nice EXCEPT one man in particular. My mother and I were treated like criminals when we harmlessly wondered upon an OPEN door to an "information office" that was apparently closed at the time of our visit (around noon on a Friday) I needed a cool place to nurse my 6 week old daughter (since every fan in the zoo was turned OFF) and change her wet diaper. He rudely told us the next time we needed to change a baby diaper to do it in the restroom. When I asked him about a place to breast feed, he also referred me to the restroom. No one should every have to FEED their baby in a restroom. So if it weren't for that man in a white button up shirt and khaki pants, we would have really enjoyed our visit and I most definitely would have given this place 5 stars!!

Great place to go with the kids. It is not so big that you are there all day but has enough exhibits to keeps everyone entertained for a few hours. They really need to revamp the gift shop since it has nothing really work buying.

Good zoo, especially for a small town. Good amount of shade and not too much of a walk. I've heard they are getting gorillas soon! Don't forget to ride the Z&OO Railroad!

We always enjoy going to the Ellen Trout Zoo. It's a wonderful place to bring the family or just come by for a stress reliever. It's not just a zoo but much more. There's a lake that you can fish. A train for anyone to ride that takes you around the zoo, across the lake, into a beautiful wooded scenery. It's a very fun ride for the kiddos. You can have a picnic on the lawn or have a birthday party using the large pavilions with picnic tables. Coming into or leaving out the drive of the zoo are play areas for the children to swing, climb, slide and much much more. And all off this is before you even get into the zoo!! A family membership is only $40 (for family of 5) which practically pays for itself the first visit and then u can bring the kids anytime to see the animals and there's no fee! Also you get discounts and free entrance at other zoo's in Tx. So awesome!! There are so many animals for the children to see at the zoo they will have a wonderful time. There are so many beautiful paths to walk along as you see the animals and benches if you need a break. There is a concession stand to get a snack and a gift shop to get a souvenir. I highly recommend coming to the Ellen Trout Zoo. If you live here in Lufkin and haven't been for a long time you'll surely be amazed as much as any out of town visitor. And throughout the year many events are held here at the zoo like the big fireworks display I was attending this trip.
