I reached the rental counter after a long day of traveling and was swiftly pointed in the direction of the rental booth adjacent to the line of available cars. My first choice of car was not available and I was immediately upgraded to a larger (and nicer car). From the time I walked through the door to the time I drove out of the rental center not more than 10 minutes elapsed. The whole process was handled in an efficient, courteous, and cheerful manner. I would definitely rent from Enterprise again.

The overall experience was good. Dedicated bus roadways to/from the terminal are genius! One less star because generally when I return the car my experience at other Enterprise locations has been that the person at the rental car agency says something like "Hello! How was everything?" Instead I was greeted by the guy at the return lot with "Are the keys in the car? Here's your receipt. The escalator's over there." No hello, no questions about service, and no thank you for your business. I'm starting to drop providing my business to businesses who don't understand basic customer service.

My rental was painful! I spent 43 minutes renting a car from the time I entered the downstairs lobby until I made my comment to the gentleman at the exit gate (8:20 to 9:03). Spent the first 25-30 minutes waiting in line, while a single agent was tasked with processing the 8 people in front of me. Not sure if she could have asked for help and didn’t, but in a business where reservations should allow some ability to predict flow at the front desk, waiting for 25 minutes won’t have me coming back. After I was processed, I went upstairs to wait in line again (I was only 4th in line this time). As always, everyone was friendly and personable, but that doesn’t compensate for the wasted time. I am normally a National Emerald Isle renter, but a last minute reservation found them to be out of cars, so I tried enterprise a few months back in Charlotte. A good experience there, Salt Lake City and Manchester, NH, influenced me to try again. I must say, my experience in San Diego was not close to the others. I’ll be going back to National in my next trip. Hope this feedback helps them improve the operation at their facility.

Upon taking a shuttle and going up two floors (with heavy luggage) to get to the rental desk, we were immediately met by a man with a clipboard. 'Did you already check in downstairs?', he asked. No. Nobody told us that we needed to check in on another floor. He seemed annoyed, but said they would make an exception. He proceeded to ask every person who came into the office whether or not they had checked in downstairs. Nobody had. If you can pay a guy to stand there and ask people this question, why not just station him outside the shuttle instead? The office was full of men in black suits who weren't the friendliest. They also didn't have my corporate account on file. Toma, the suit at the front desk, had a slight edge to his voice and seemed annoyed. When I pointed this out, along with the 'check in downstairs' weirdness, he didn't apologize or even offer an explanation. He shrugged it off and said that he would have to call a supervisor regarding the corporate account issue (despite me providing the account number, direct billing number, and me being an administrator on the account). I told him to forget it and put it on my card (I just wanted to get out of there). He told me that he needed proof of a return flight which I didn't understand. Rather than explain this to me, he simply said 'That's our policy'. Not everyone knows your policies, dude. It takes maybe ten seconds to provide actual customer service and explain things. Drop-off was a little strange as the address of the office literally just takes you to the side of the road near the terminal. I tried to call for clarification and spent 20 minutes driving around and trying to answer prompts on the automated system to speak to an actual person. I eventually found a set of signs and followed them to where I needed to be. I never got through to a live person. Letting people know when they pick up that there is an alternate address for drop-off would be extremely helpful. As would answering the phone. The car was clean and the parking lot attendants were extremely kind.

After arriving very late to the San Diego airport enterprise, myself and co-worker were greeted by Edgar. He was absolutely wonderful. His professionalism and friendliness was outstanding. Our entire experience was easy and fun because of his knowledge of cars and personable attitude. Thank you!
