We visited Labor Day Weekend. It is a small, quiet, beautiful park. We visit a lot of state parks and this has been one of the best hidden gems. The view by the river was lovely and we had fun spotting the border markers along the hiking trail. It is an area of the state that we do not visit often, but I think we'll visit this park again.

Quiet, rustic park with some good hiking on grass trails. No ranger station, trailer dump station, or showers. Rustic pit toilets only. Fresh drinking water available near the self check in. Roads and campsites are tight and may be uncomfortable for large rigs. Nice picnic area overlooking the Rainy River rapids and Canadian shore, including shelter with several tables. Lots of mosquitos.

As I try to visit all mn state parks, I visited this one. It's small with little to do, but nice and quite, and seeing the river border was fun. Camping was available.

A gem of a state park! 18 campsites on beautiful rainy river. We stayed there on a beautiful weekend and we were the only ones there! The campsites are nestled into the woods with ample distance (and woods between) to insure privacy. We enjoyed 2 miles of hiking trails, rock climbing, and fishing all in one stay. Ralph, the park attendant, was pleasant and has done an amazing job maintaining the park...there was even a substantial pile of cut wood at most campsites. Enjoy Minnesota's beauty and fall asleep to the sound of salt rapids! Cant wait for our next visit!
