Cool spot - and very rugged. If you're coming by car you can only tent outside of the park in some nice public campgrounds. Boat rentals are fairly easy to come by up here too. A true wilderness experience up here, especially if you boat in and camp in the secluded wilderness for days.

I have travelled to many national parks, they are all special, but Voyageurs hold a special place in my heart. I have moments while on the lake when I remember the enormous glaciers that shaped the landscape or the Voyageurs that traded with Native Americans or the "gold boom" that went busy. This is an area of great history and great beauty. It truly is a hidden gem of the Park Service.

The center is small, but very nice. The staff are so pleasant and helpful. The park looks beautiful, but I missed so much by not going out on a boat or in a canoe. I heard about the mosquitoes before I went, and, boy, were the reports right!

The park is gorgeous, but if you plan on walleye fishing, don't waste your time or money. They use a slot size system which means larger than 'X inches but less than Y' inches you put back into the water. Everything you catch goes back.

On one hand, it is not a very unique NP in America. On the other hand, the summer here is probably THE BEST in the world (if you ignore the mosquitos...).
