Worst customer experience from beginning to end. I’m a club gold member and I will never rent a car from hertz again. I rent a car at least a few times every month and never again with hertz. And it’s not just the local customer service. Corporate and several other hertz offices were involved. The problem is systemic and starts with corporate. The WORST. The wait times. Response on the phone. The “I can’t help and I don’t know” responses were absolutely crazy . And if you have a problem with your vehicle? Well you’re out of luck.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I flew in to Pensacola on a business trip and I had a reservation with Hertz. At the baggage area, I saw the line at Hertz only had 3 people in it so I figured I would check-in and pick-up the keys for my rental while I waited for the luggage to be unloaded from the plane. When I reached second in line, a slew of people got in the “gold member” line and the front desk flex service representative, Daniel, checked-in EVERYONE in the gold member line, which was at least 10 people, while I and the person in front of me just stood there. I understand memberships have their privileges, but seriously? I might not be a member but Im still a paying customer! The decent thing to do would be help 2 gold members than help a regular customer, then help another 2 gold members, and continue the rotation. So that was check-in. When I returned the vehicle, the representative at the car lot, I didn’t catch her name, had the nerve to tell me I didn’t fill up the car and try to charge me almost $100 extra. I told her I filled up the car right before bringing it back to the lot, and she said that was not what she saw. I told her once again I literally just filled the tank. We both went back to the car and she turned it on and we both saw that the tank was full. She took off the extra gas charge and I proceeded to catch my flight back home. I WILL NEVER RENT FROM HERTZ AGAIN.

The size car I’d reserved was unavailable. When that has occurred with other rental car companies (e.g. Enterprise), I’d immediately be offered a free upgrade. Instead Hertz tried to get me to pay for an upgrade. When I refused & was going to cancel my reservation to go to one of the other rental car companies, suddenly Hertz offered to check with one of their sister companies to see if they had my size available. Voila! Try did! Gee, maybe you should have checked that in the first place instead of trying to upsell me. Everything else went fine, but this underhanded sales tactic soured me on using Hertz again.

My credit card was charged $300 for a smoking cleaning fee, but I DON'T Smoke. I called Hertz Corp to dispute the charge and they said it must go through the location where the car was rented. I have called atleast a dozen times and NO ONE has picked up the phone. HORRIBLE customer support!!

The staff was very helpful. I had an issue with a tire that had a slow leak during my rental. I added air a few times and they credited me for my money at the air pump plus a few dollars extra. I was dropping off an in-town and picking up a one-way on the same day so they upgraded my one-way to a really nice car as a sorry/thank-you. The helper had to push about 100 buttons to make that car a one-way but she didn't give up! Everyone was really nice!
