The renowned DC Spanish tapas restaurant of José Andrés.

Story

Under the direction of Chef José Andrés, Jaleo offers an impressive assortment of tapas, the traditional small dishes of Spain, as well as savory paellas, superb sangrias and a fine selection of Spanish wines and Sherries in a festive, casual atmosphere. Created in 1993 by Rob Wilder, Roberto Alvarez and José Andrés, Jaleo has become a DC institution.

There is a reason this is Jose Andres' signature restaurant... We had their pre-theater menu which is between 5 and 6:30 and offers a three-course meal for it around $35. Pairs nicely with the wine tasting. The flan is ethereal, light Citrus hints. Overall, very delicious restaurant wood traditional Spanish cuisine. Has some cool quirky interior design flares as well.

We made this a must stop all the way from Canada. The food was outstanding with each and every plate offering different flavours and texture. The place looks fantastic and very contemporary. I expected to pay a lot more than I did. Whenever I'm back In DC Jaleo will be a must stop.the service is also top notch. Anyone considering this place will NOT be disappointed.

My goodness. The food was the most flavorful and delicious combinations I have ever tried! We did the lunch special which gets you 4 plates for $20! Worth every single penny. I will be coming back as many times as I possibly can!

This was one of the best lunches I've ever had in my life. I had the pleasure of going to Jaleos with a friend of mine who is from Washington, who was showing me around to her favorite eateries. We got to the restaurant right when it opened for lunch and were seated promptly. I don't remember the name of the dish that I ate, but it was a dish with rice, bacon, fried egg, plantains (?) in a red sauce. The first bite that I took was filled with such delicious and complex flavors that I immediately had to halt our conversation and concentrate on the meal. Highly recommended.

Food is delcious. Came here with a friend and ordered the 30 dollar tasting menu which included tapa sized servings of 10 dishes. A great way to eat if you're looking for variety. The restaurant is accommodating of dietary restrictions in the tasting menu and switched out pork products for something else since my friend did not eat work. The 30 dollar tasting menu included 3 desserts in the 10 dishes and everything was delicious! Decor was nice and the service was excellent. I would definitely come back again.
