The food was pretty good, but don’t expect an authentic Indian meal. The somewhat reasonable price of 9-12 dollars per plate is good for dc. Flavors are muted and bland for an Indian fusion place. The service and atmosphere was very nice. My main disappointment was crunchy rice, and the owner refunded my meal to make it right.

Food is good and pricea are reasonable. A little more authentic taste added would make it 5 stars but it's still very good for a quick lunch/dinner

Not sure why so many people have given this place a high rating. We knew that the food wouldn’t be authentic, but expected it to be tasty and fresh- it was not. Chewy naan at 7 pm on a weekend, no flavor- not acceptable. The way they serve is very messy- everything piled in a disposable container. Their concept is not bad at all, but food should at the very least be fresh.

In the midst of a hectic workday, I stumbled into Merzi to give it a try. I wound up selecting everything on their menu, including a samosa, only to realize that I'd forgotten my wallet and was unable to pay. The Merzi staff graciously allowed me to take my meal free of charge. It was truly the nicest gesture on an otherwise overwhelming day. In sum: the food is incredible, the staff is welcoming and friendly, and I now have found a new favorite lunch spot!

Good price, nice Indian chipotle type restaurant near Smithsonian. Samosa is good, so is lassi. Not much variety of Indian food though.
