Story

Legacy Park Community Center is in the 13th year of service to the City of Lee's Summit and its surrounding neighbors! The 58,000 square foot facility houses a gymnasium, indoor aquatics center, racquetball courts,child care, elevated walking track, wellness floor, cardio room, circuit weights and free weights, an group exercise and cycle studios, and virtual and instructor led classes.

I've been using this gym for a little over a year and like it. It's very inexpensive and they have a lot to offer. I like the indoor pool so I can take my kids there during the colder months. The actual workout area where all the weights are is a little small though, and I often have to wait around to use the equipment that I want to use, but for the price I will deal with that over going to a larger gym. I am seeing a lot of reviews mentioning poor customer service but I have never experienced that before. Every time I go, they greet me, and they tell me to have a nice evening when I walk out. They are always helpful when I need something from them. I haven't had any sessions with a trainer but they all seem nice enough to me.

Paid for two kids and myself (I was not swimming, but had to pay to go in to supervise), to go swimming in the heated pools. Spoke with the person at the counter about booking a birthday party.(very nice gentleman).  After about 30 minutes in the pool, both girls came out shivering and very cold. They wanted to leave.  Turns out the heaters were not working in the pool. After speaking with the supervisor(?) a woman, I was told about the heaters.I asked for a rain check to return and was told "we do not do that". No refund was offered and when I suggested they put a sign out letting people know the heaters were down I was told, "I will get right on that" and the woman turned away from me dismissing me.
I was not rude. I  deal with customer service everyday and know it is better to be kind. Things happened. I don't like being dismissed and cut off. I would have asked for a refund, but the lobby was getting busy and I didn't want to wait for the supervisor to return as two girls were very cold.
Guess I will take my money elsewhere for our birthday party.

stars unless there are too many people there and you have to wait around to use equipment you need for your workout. There is etiquette for aerobic machines, please limit your time to 30 minutes. It's ok to get right back on it if nobody else wants it. Barbells?? No etiquette. I've seen guys get on the barbells and just stay there, 40, 45 minutes, sometimes an hour. Even if they are just breathing hard, there they are camped out. Others might be waiting, but they can just wait. I don't know what the least crowded times are. Sometimes when I'm there it's like puppies in a cardboard box, and if your workout includes barbells ... Don't come here.

It kills me to give such a low score. But everything that made this gym great is gone. Some staff are still friendly. Maybe you should ask in an interview do you mind smiling?  Paper towels are empty, spray bottles empty, guys dropping weights and NO ONE ever asks then to control the weights. Just very sad, it was once a fantastic place.

Legacy Park Community Center is a great center with aquatics a gym, and a good workout center with free weights, machines, and cycles They have a great selection of formal exercise programs scheduled. The cost is far cheaper than most other commercial health clubs. The only reason I didn’t give a 5 star rating is the don’t have a steam room or sauna, but I highly recommend them.
