They are in the process of renovating this hotel. The updates are very nice. You can tell they are putting quality into the updates. For the beds were comfortable in the shower is relatively new. We recommend this for a inexpensive place to stay in St Augustine

I wish the staff member guy that makes waffles had his own place. He's super nice and makes a kick ass waffle. This place is now called The Ponce. The hotel is overrated and unclean. The room was literally dirty. We cleaned the floors, bathroom, and sink area only to find the coffee pot and refrigerator was also dirty. I didn't even look in the microwave! There was hair all over the beds and next to the night stand where I attempted to plug in my cell charger. The room smelled like mold, smoke, and eggs by the sink/bath area. The sheets where stained. We all ate different things from different places while we were able to get out. My baby started throwing up after I gave him juice from the hotel. I notified staff of the issues as I came across them and of course I was given clean sheets blankets etc. so I expected that the dispensary for juice had been cleaned. I allowed my 16 year old son to go get breakfast because the waffles did not make me sick. He had 2 cups of Oj with his breakfast and I just had a plain waffle. He started throwing up about 20 minutes later. I notified staff again making sure they understood that the machine needed be broken down and cleaned. I stayed with them giving them electrolytes until I ran out of what I had brought for beach time. I went to the Walgreen's to get more and was called by staff to let me know I had left my "small children" in the room alone. My 16 year has a job repairing computers and is probably paid better than anyone who works there so that was just to irritate me as if my trip wasn't already being ruined. The only thing my 1 year old had that my 16 year old also had was from the breakfast bar at the hotel. Anyone with children knows they have different eating habits. When I finally was able to confront the manager, she had just gotten finished cleaning the machine herself and told me she was calling the health inspector. She was rude and offered me nothing as a solution.

What a stay, delightful and attentive staff. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Their breakfast bar was very diverse and tasty. I am writing this review as my last day staying here. In terms for amenities they are too notch, and the premises are being remodeled to a more up to date look. Which suits the hotel well! Rooms are a breath of fresh air and linens were both clean and smelled good. rooms were sound proofed as well. No bothering neighbors or anything like that. Parking can be a bit tight if attempting to accommodate a big group but can be done. Visitor center with access to trolley is literally 200ft away from premises making it easy to get into "town" with little to no trouble. McDonald's, zaxbys and a darn good BBQ joint make for dinning out a hop and a skip down the road with the family.

The rooms are clean. The place is older but very well maintained. The pool and hot tub were immaculate. The staff was amazing.

Now called The Ponce. Not someplace you want to stay. Very active train behind it. Also lots of other noise. They are renovating and I believe whoever is doing the work should be doing something else. Could'nt even hang a toilet paper holder correctly. Looks good in the pictures on even on the outside but big surprise in the room. Oh, I forgot to mention the visitors, roaches,. Not palmetto bugs but honest to goodness roaches.
