I only have had 2 appointments here with Dr.Schafer may be spelling the name wrong, and have waited over an hour for each appointment. Also had a poor experience due to issues with insurance that took weeks to sort out in which I had to constantly call/message the MGH staff and insurance. However, the front staff is very kind and appreciate it does seem to be a strong emphasis on training their clinical staff.
I cannot ask for a better dental practice to take care of my teeth! The staff are very friendly and my teeth are in the best shape ever. They even have a pediatric dentistry practice, but Tuesday appointments only. Highly recommend this practice.
Once I navigated the nastiness at the front desk, I soon discovered that Dr. Lau is a butcher. She "attacked" my teeth during my examination banging them with her probe and other dental instruments. She jabbed my gums with her probe as well making the experience even more painful. When I asked her to please stop causing me pain at least three times, she stated that her method is the normal way of examining teeth. When she relayed the state of each tooth to her assistant, she used colors to describe them. At one point she looked and me and yelled, "Pay!!!" which I found quite sickening. When I could take no more pain and abuse I got up and left. As one can clearly glean from other reviews, this place is a butcher shop and is to be avoided at all costs. As I left at least two female patients hurled vicious comments at me as though they somehow enjoy the pain and humiliation of it all.
Horrible administration. When attempting to make an appointment, you are forced to leave a voicemail after navigating the phone prompts their phone does not ring. You then have to wait 1-3 days for someone to call you back. If you miss that return call, you have to repeat the cycle. It's taken me over a week just to schedule an appointment.
Staff is very rushed. I had to return a second time to receive a cleaning as they could not coordinate the exam and the cleaning during the same visit. Would not recommend unfortunately
Terrible. Dentists and hygienists are nice but the admins are awful. They never pick up the phone when you call. Received a bill for hundreds of dollars YEARS after the appointment. Don’t know what’s going on here but avoid at all costs
I am editing my original review after I received remediation from MGH dental. I was contacted by my orthodontist, who is the highlight of this clinic, she made up for all the wrongs and has been seeing me regularly, with a great plan for my teeth. The front desk staff is really trying to improve their service but there is still room for improvement. Overall, I am satisfied, particularly pleased and happy with Dr. Klein’s services.
Doctors there are very good. But front desk staff people are in general terrible. There are a few good people but how they do in general is not professional. I don't think that they love to do their job and care about patients. They do need to improve services with kindness and reduced errors. Their job security should rely on feedback from customers to a certain degree so that they pay more attention to the needs of customers.
the worst experience. They chipped my tooth, charged me multiple times and being told that I had to pay AGAIN. They had to give me credit back wish I used to buy to whitening trays and when I went pick them up they were charging me again, never got the trays and I got the receipts showing that I overpaid. I ended up with a chipped tooth, a tooth with a different tone, tooth pain and humiliated every time I was told to pay again if I wanted to be seen. I hated every single visit I went to.
I am shocked by MGH dental and the quality of their treatment. I had a cleaning today and the hygienist told me she cannot floss patients because she has arthritis. When I asked her if she doesn't floss any of her patients to tailor to her condition, she said she is "old and decrepit" and was unapologetic about it. I am absolutely appalled by the lack of professionalism. More importantly, the quality of the service is shocking. If you can't do your job, you should not be doing it. If you can't floss a patient because of your arthritis, this likely means you can't do similar fine-movement work, like cleaning teeth!!! I feel as if I have completely wasted an appointment and my money. Go elsewhere where you will actually get your teeth cleaned. I don't recommend coming here. There are plenty of other quality and professional dental offices.
