Overall, pretty good experience. I didn't have to wait long for the shuttle, and was driving out of the lot very quickly! The only hitch was at the end of my rental. The signage could be improved so it's more obvious which entrance one should take when returning a call. Once I figured that out, it was all smooth, and the shuttle got me back to the airport in good time.

Being able to walk in, pick a car and drive out is the easiest and most convenient way to rent a car and I wouldn't go anywhere else. This trip was no exception, except, I picked a Nissan Rogue for my family trip to Florida and when I got it home to start packing the vehicle, I noticed that none of the windows....I mean NONE of the windows had been cleaned. There was obviously a family who rented before me and there were hand prints, smudges of food and bodily reminders on all 4 seat windows and even the interior of the rear window. Mind you, the carpets were clean and the dash was dusted but someone obviously forgot to clean the interior and exterior window. I ended up taking the car to a car wash and cleaning all of the windows myself before departing on a long 19 hour car ride. THAT is why I gave this experience 4 of 5 stars.

Been using National a long time, roughly the past 9 years. I travel for work and have typically been very pleased with the Emerald Club program. Lately not so much. First I've been having trouble with their website and getting confirmations when booking online. Typically I've always received a confirmation email but those have not been getting to me lately and yes I've checked my spam folder. This has resulted in duplicate bookings which require a call to customer service to correct as the website crashes for me when I tried to undo it. Even when I called they canceled the wrong reservation of the 2 and I never got an email confirmation for that either. Then there's been problems with car availability. On 4 occasions in the last year (San Francisco and Boston)cars were unavailable upon arrival and it became a mad, disorganized scramble with other waiting customers as the readied cars trickled out one by one. I would understand if they were just out of cars (That has happened too) but in these instances the return lanes were completely full of cars that had to be processed before they could again be rented out. So I can't comment on why they were so slow to turn them around but really, I do not feel that is my problem to deal with. So in summary, I love the program but it was been going downhill recently in my experience.

National is the best! The Emerald Club/Emerald Aisle makes it so easy to get your car (nice to pick your own vehicle) and get on your way in no time! Never had any problems at checkout or return.

The guy at the counter saved the day. He got me enrolled in the Emerald club and I was able to upgrade to a pickup which is what I needed. But the reservation system sux, it said they would not have a pickup until later, but when I got there, there were 4 pickup trucks, two of which were sitting in the Emerald Isle area which is first come first serve. And I was using the truck to go pick up a tool out of town and return it, but they did not offer any medium or long term parking for me, I actually had to go to a parking lot near the airport, get a shuttle to the airport, then get a shuttle to the car rental place. I would have been livid, had it not been for the guy at the counter helping me out. The manager's name was Matt, and when I asked about any parking, he said he couldn't help me out, I could see that he wasn't being completely honest, I am sure there is employee parking and he could have, but he wouldn't help. So I probably won't rent from this location again for any trips from my home base, but the emerald isle upgrade is sweet, and I will use it on out of town trips.
