About

The National Museum of Mathematics strives to enhance public understanding and perception of mathematics with hands-on, interactive exhibits and programs.

Story

Note MoMath closes early (2:30 pm) the first Wednesday of every month.

Mathematics illuminates the patterns that abound in our world. The museum’s activities will lead a broad and diverse audience to understand the evolving, creative, human, and aesthetic nature of mathematics.

Accomplishments to date include opening North America's only museum devoted to math and its many connections with nature, art, science, business, music, and everyday life; creating the popular Math Midway exhibition (mathmidway.org), which is currently touring museums throughout the United States; leading math tours in various U.S. cities; the Math Encounters (mathencounters.org) presentation series; delivering programs for students, teachers, and the public to increase appreciation of mathematics; and hosting over 125,000 visitors to date.

Like most museums, MoMath cannot survive on admission revenue alone. If you believe in the mission of the National Museum of Mathematics, please support the institution by becoming a member (momath.org/join) or donor (momath.org/contribute). Thanks!

One of The Best Hands-On Museums for Kids (and parents)!!! We've recently went to several museums from DC to NYC where it was very restrictive. Needless to say it was refreshing to come to this museum where my kids got to touch and interact with everything. I highly highly recommend this museum to any parents wanting something safe and that is educational. An added bonus- there's a playground across the street in the park.

A small Mathematical museum full of "physics, technology and geometry" in an environment the engineering and mathmatical brain adores. "It was awesome" says my 9 year old boy who loves math. It took 2 hours and I would suggest trying to go right at opening because dieing summer break this place filled up quickly. It is 2 floors of experiments, hands on problem solving and many mathematical solutions.

We had a great time! The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location is easy to miss, and the space can only handle a few school groups at a time - which means it gets very crowded very quickly. But a good place to take the kids for a few hours of hands on fun!

I requested and received a full refund because of the terrible experience. Kiosks to purchase tickets were broken, no sign saying they were down, no one came to help us. Not enough explanation for the stations that were working. Even staff said activities lacked clear instructions and objectives. Do not donate your time or money to this badly run museum. Even after I asked to speak to a director, no responsible adult appeared. The price of admission exceeded the amount of fun to be had. Don't waste your time.

A large amount of the exhibits we're broken when I visited. Many of the exhibits we're giant sized versions of table games/puzzels that utilize math concepts. When everything is working it is probably a good place to take kids, but as an adult it was not super interesting. If everything was working 100% I'd probably give it 3 stars for adults.
