This place is AMAZING!!!!! Warm friendly atmosphere. Very clean, smells great. I called prior to going there. Jim answered and he was very polite and extremely helpful, even giving me advice on what to look for in my coins for more value. He sat down and looked thru every coin, offered me refreshments while we sat and talked like old friends. Extremely patient and friendly. I left completely happy with my transaction. I will asbsolutey recommend and revisit.

I wanted to cash in some silver, and was offered less than one third of the melt value. Either they were trying to rip me off, or they just don't know how to figure the value of metals. How sad. Don't waste your time with this place. There are plenty of honest coin dealers out there that will pay a fair price.

The gentleman I worked with was fantastic! He spent tons of time with me, was very knowledgeable and patient as I brought in tons of coins. I was nervous going in there after reading some of these reviews and honestly I had a great experience. I'm very comfortable going back in the future. Thank you!!!

My experience with Orland Jewelry and Coin Exchange was absolutely, positively terrible. Let me first start off by describing who I am. I am a young looking 30-year-old who walked into the establishment possibly a bit unkempt (it's the weekend after all) and wearing a sweater with my school's logo on it. I'm an MBA student at a top three US school, the University of Chicago, and am studying finance. I have been investing in gold and silver my entire adult life and know a lot about the space. Now that we got that out of the way, let's start with the story. I was at the mall with my wife and son and decided while I was there that I would call around to different coin shops and see what prices I could get for my Saint Gaudens $20 Double Eagle, my $5 Indian Head, and a couple of 0.10 troy ounce gold bullion coins that I had picked up over the years. I wanted some cash for a large purchase so I called Orland Jewelry and Coin Exchange to see what they could do for the coins. I didn't want to go out of my way if I was just going to get a bad deal. So I called and the man was relatively nice over the phone. I described the coins and he quoted me what he would pay. He was paying about 15% below market price for the coins, which is a steep, but not terrible for someone on short notice. I said I would think about it and that I may stop by the shop later. Leaving the mall, I let me wife know that I was going to sell the coins and that I would just take a minute at Orland Jewelry and Coin Exchange since I had already been quoted prices. I parked, she stayed in the car with my son, and I went into the shop. He greeted me nicely enough and asked what I was in for. I let him know that I was the young man who called and that I decided I was ok with the prices he gave. He instantly gave me a funny look, took my coins, and removed them from their holders. He took the Saint Gaudens coin, which looks fine, and began to weigh it, weighing it twice on two different scales. He inspected the coin for about three minutes. He finally said "something seems off about the coin...is it polished?" I replied "what's off about it? Does it weight correctly? It may have been polished, I don't know, I used to polish some of my coins. Is that a problem?" Mind you, he wasn't paying premium for the coin but instead was paying a serious discount to both market value and spot! So I was rightfully very confused why he would be so picky, worrying about the coin being polished. He then looked me in the eyes (maybe about three times), put the coin back in the holder, shook his head and said "something just doesn't feel right with this coin." He then proceeded to look at my other coins and asked me "so, where did you get these?" as he inspected the two 0.10 troy ounce coins. I said fleetingly "I don't know. I picked them up over the years. Possibly a coin shop or eBay." He instantly got up, pushed them over to me, and said "ok, I'm done. I don't buy any coins from someone who buys off of eBay." Shocked, I smiled at him, laughed, shook my head, grabbed the coins and said goodbye. Never in my years have I ever experienced something like this. Not only was he paying well below spot for great coins but he was exceedingly picky and essentially giving me the "you look scraggly and young, you must be trying to scam me" vibe. His constant looks, his standoffish demeanor, his outrageous demands with regard to coin condition relative to price, all meant that he was at best profiling me and at worst trying to get me to give him the coins at an even deeper discount, maybe hoping that I would capitulate further on price due to desperation. Don't go here. Take it from someone who has been buying and selling precious metals for over 12 years. He will either give you the worst customer service experience of your life or he will buy your gold/silver at a very deep discount to market value, or both. Stay away. If I could give this guy negative stars for such a terrible experience and wasting my time by going back on a verbal quote for solid coins, I would do it.

He did a great job listening to me and my boyfriend and took the time listening to all of our questions. He even went out of his way to help us out. Very happy.
