Ortolano was the doctor of a close relative of mine. He didn't find prostate cancer for 5 years. The other reviews said that Ortolano did not pay attention to details and I agree. The relative of mine went to him for 20 years sometimes 2 times per year and he completely missed the prostate cancer for 5 years. I asked a MD and Nurse that I trust and they both said Ortolano should not have missed the cancer. I would highly recommend using a better Urologist.

Could not have had better care in NM! Other people I know with similar kidney cancers and did not see Dr. Ortolano lost their entire kidney or did not have optimal treatment. Dr. Ortolano is a true professional and puts the care of his patients and their treatment options at the front of any treatment plan. He reads the literature, is transparent and communicates with specialists across the country - if he can't do it, he is honest, and will refer you out. Thank you for your dedicated service to New Mexico!

Doc acts like he's completely bored with his job. Blew off my concerns of excessive nocturia as me not sleeping well and needing a sleep study. He misdiagnosed a male yeast infection, causing me to pass it on to my partner. Turns out both were the side effect of a new medication I'd started taking a few months before and had he actually reviewed my file or even listened to me, he would have known. The urgent care doc I had to see 5 days later was truly shocked that Dr. Ortolano could have possibly misdiagnosed all of it.

I saw this doctor a couple of years ago for an issue with kidney stones. When I was referred to him last year for the same issue, I called and made an appt. noting that I was already an existing patient. When I arrived I was told to fill out the NEW patient paperwork and as it turns out they did a whole NEW patient work up - which was denied by my insurance because I was not a NEW patient. When I was billed and disputed the charges, they referred the account to collections. While it is likely that I will pay the $26 to make this go away, it is unlikely that I would ever refer anyone to this doctor.
