Amazing! The suggested route of down south Kaibab and then up bright angel is the way to go do the trip. The steak dinner was life changing and the breakfast was amazing at 5am in the morning. Male dorm was clean and it was well worth it to sleep in a real bed. I can see why people do this trip over and over again.

We couldn't get a permit for an over night stay so we simply opted for a "Rim to Rim in one day" trip but I will tell you this, reaching and resting at Phantom Ranch is a right of passage for a rim to rim hike. You must grab a lemonade, mail off a few mule train post cards and definitely rest in the shade. Maybe even catch a quick nap. :) Someday we hope to secure permits for an overnighter but until then we will enjoy a respite at this little oasis in the bottom of the Grand Canyon.

I thought visiting Phantom Ranch was the coolest thing on the planet!  Especially after trekking from the South Rim.  We stopped and got some lemonade before our trip back up to the Rim.  The facility was excellent!  Restrooms were available and you could even purchase an ice cream if you so desire.  I would love to visit again and actually camp at the campground.

We had the stew dinner while staying at the nearby campground. Dinner was delicious and there was more than enough to fill your belly after the long hike down. Dinner even included chocolate cake for dessert! Definitely worth the money!

Best experience of my life! Phantom Ranch is a throwback to yesteryear, and is so charming and so special. It was worth the four hours of dialing the phone that it took me to get through to book it.
