I've been coming to Pocahontas for years, but only for day use. Recently, we stayed for a couple of nights in the campground and it really is an awesome park. The lake has plenty of paddling and there are a ton of trails for easy hiking/walking and mt. biking. The campground is really nice was planned exceptionally well. Although it is very large and near (5 min) a busy road, it really feels like you are secluded. The camp spaces are very well spaced apart and the parking for an RV of any size is easy thanks to the well angled "driveways." The dump station is easy to access and has threaded tank flushing (it isn't like that everywhere!) as does the freshwater filling station, which isn't at the dump station, but is across the road. The laundry, showers and restrooms have all been clean and well maintained. We will definitely continue to use the park for day use as well as camp here again, hopefully for a full week next time.

This is a beautiful place to camp, hike, visit!! It’s very clean, super friendly staff, awesome camper neighbors and quiet at night. Lots of fun things to do like hike, play/hang out with new friends, visit nature center, go on a planned activity, etc. pet friendly. We stayed in a YURT (no pets allowed in yurt) in April and loved it! Spacious, clean, very large patio and outdoor camping area! Perfect.

Great state park with many things to see and do. Offers camping, swimming, walking/running trails, educational programs. Nice place for rock hunters/geocaches to explore. Great fishing in numerous places through out the park. Has very nice community buildings for parties including wedding party venues equipped with clean kitchens and bathrooms. Highly recommend!!!

One of my top five favorite campgrounds. The camp sites are huge, extremely well maintained, and fairly level. The bath houses are clean and centrally located. The hiking/biking trails are excellent -- well maintained, clearly marked, and there are tons of them. There are tons of activities for kids, a great playground, the water park, the CCC museum, and so many ranger-led events each weekend. We go here at least 3 times a year and love it every time.

One of my favorite local places to hike. The lake and pools are fun during the summer. I recommend the boat rentals, kayak specifically, the hourly rates are super inexpensive. See how far you can make it in two hours
