I am glad that Houston is starting to recover and rebuild. But a bit of a warning to any resident that has State Farm Insurance. I have been a State Farm customer for 25 years. We have been paying over $400 a month for the SIX policies we have with them. But a few months ago, we were in a hail storm and received some damage to our roof. The adjuster came out and said, "Oh yeah, you got a good bit of hail damage on one side of the roof, but we will not replace the entire roof!'... What? So hail only falls at an angle and the front half of the roof was some how protected from the magically weird angled hail?? Anyway, I said fine replace 1/2 of the roof and I will pay to replace the other 1/2. Of course they pro-rated the 1/2 of the roof that they paid for! Then after the work was done, I received a letter from the 'Good Neighbor' that says since I made a claim, they are cancelling my home owners policy. WOW! So State Farm will take my money, month after month, year after year.. for 25 YEARS, but once a claim is made - they drop me. Just WOW!! Well after a little shopping around. Come to find out, the so called good neighbor is nothing but over priced junk. Every one we called said "..that's all the coverage you were getting.. And you are paying how much?? Wow, you are at what is called the State minimum for coverage!" So to the folks in Texas, I hope you get your homes rebuilt and your lives back on track. And hope you were wiser than I, and chose an insurance company that is better than that fake neighbor that lies about being the good one. Folks, you don't need State Farm.. You are better than that! You should find a True Friend, not someone who pretends to be a good neighbor. The lady at Farmers Insurance even said "heck, if we cancelled someone every time we had to replace a roof, we would run out of customers!" Jake, may be a funny guy, but the company he represents, is hideous! Friends you need to Cancel your state farm policy before they cancel you too!
