After reading the previous reviews we decided to stay on an overnight visit while traveling through, that was a mistake. While the campground itself was ok the pool was green and could not be used, the bathrooms were disgusting. Toilets were rust stained, showers were even worse and 1 out if the 3 didn't even work. If you MUST stay here use flops while in the shower.

The campground is still under construction, but it is a great campground and will be wonderful once completed. It would be nice if the pull through sites were level so that people spending one night would not have to unhook to be level

We were looking for a quick 2-night stop near Richmond as we traveled through the area. Based on other reviews, we had prepared ourselves for the worst. In fact, it's those reviews that encourage me to write this review. This place isn't as bad as it’s made out to be- in fact, I kind of like it here. First and foremost, staff can make or break a place. The staff here has been super friendly and welcoming. We are in A-8 which is the first row in the park. It's a 50-amp spot and a 70' pull-through site. We have a beautiful shade tree (which is trimmed nicely back so that it doesn't brush our camper). Side to side, the site is fairly level. Front to back is my one real complaint, it slopes pretty heavily to the rear- we can manage it in a trailer (42' fifth wheel), but I could see this being an issue with some motorhomes. Though, in our days here- we have had motorhome neighbors on either side of us coming and going. My other complaint for the campsite, is the number of ant hills around it. We carry and sprayed bug killer as we setup, otherwise, I do fear that our hoses, tires, and whatnot would have been a path to them getting in (something we dealt with in Florida and are now aggressive in being proactive). Our picnic table seemed to be freshly painted and was in good repair. Their wifi worked, but was slow. Verizon and AT&T service are very good here. We hear some highway noise when outside, but not bad. We seem to experience little flashes of power going off; just for a moment, but enough to be annoying with resetting clocks. Water pressure is good. These front sites are well kept, mowed, and utilities are about midway. The lake IS overgrown with lily pads, but it looks pretty. We didn't get close enough to check out the paddle boats; they're under a roof on the side of the lake, though. The back sites seem pretty cozy and are mostly filled with seasonal/annual residents but they're generally well kept. We drove through and didn't notice anything that made me cringe. There are a set of sites under the trees that could be really nice. It seems like part of it is storage with some of the units (some very dilapidated). And then there seem to be some not so well marked sites. That part was a little less nice looking at. There are a few cabins that looked well-kept from the outside. Each day that we've been here, we have noticed them doing something. The last couple of days, it has been painting picnic tables and the outside of the office. The most level sites seemed to be back near the lake. The campground is also a great jumping off point for exploring the Battle of Petersburg. A 9 1/2 month slog just prior to the end of the civil war. The battlefield Visitors Center is quaint but nice and the movie they show is really well done.
