Not great but not bad. Large menu but they didn't have a couple items we wanted. Very loud and fairly dark, if that's your thing. Food and service were both OK. Its biggest plus is unquestionably its location, literally a stone's throw from Penn Station. Ultimately, though 8 of us ordered many menu items, nothing rose above the level of OK, not a single item distinguishing itself. The three star rating is justified.

Came in a with a large group split between two tables just prior to a college sport event at MSG. The server was pretty inattentive, and it took a few tries to get orders in, it was busy so I will give them that, but not so much as to be blatantly ignored at times. There was a separate tab for each table and several items we're on the wrong check. Some of the food was good, but some was just generic. For instance, the Stout Burger is "just a regular burger but we put our name on it" we were told, and the Stout Ice Cream was "just a scoop of chocolate, a scoop of vanilla, and a scoop of something else I don't remember. Just ice cream but we put our name on it." Usually when a restaurant puts their name on something it has a special sauce or something that makes it unique to that establishment.

Though the food was solid and the atmosphere was great for a pub, we elected to have the chef’s beer selections which were all stouts of a similar taste. I’m sure they were good stouts, but my friend and I were not big fans and could not select another style of beer. Definitely would go again, though.

Located just 1/2 a block east of Penn Station & Madison Sq Garden this is a good place to wait before you travel or see an event or grab a bite and beer arriving into the city. It's bar food with burgers & sandwiches with good but greasy fries. They have large pizzas to share. Beers =4star ... name the type you like there's a half dozen of that style to choose. High top tables on the first floor, upstairs is traditional table seats. For those upstairs, be kind to your wait staff they have to run up and down to the bar & basement kitchen for everything you order. Giving a shout out to management there was a slight snafu with our order, they went above and beyond to fix it! That's where the 5stars go!

With a great menu and festive atmosphere, Stout is always a good time. Some would call this a sports bar or a great place for social gatherings. The many rooms, bar games and friendly staff anytime is a good time to make your way to Stout. On certain occasions bouncers are present.
