I truly love this park, as it plays so many different roles in NYC. First as a park is a small urban oasis in the center of so many things going on. There's a children's playground on the north east side that is full of cool rides. The north edge plays host to a farmers market on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and the weekends. Here you can find fresh fruit and vegetables and fish, duck, and other freshly slaughtered meats. There's also bread, pies and cheese, along with local wines, honey, cider and flowers. There is a restaurant that operates during the warm weather months there as well. The southern edge plays host to a Christmas market. The rest of the time you can find chess players and roller skaters. It is also a starting point for political rallies and demonstrations. All this happens under the watchful eyes of a great George Washington equestrian statue. There is also a real nice statue of Lafayette on the east side, along with another big monument in the heart of the square. There is a dog run on the west side and rows of park benches all around. Right below the park is the Union Square subway station where you can catch the following lines: N, R, Q, W, 4, 5 and 6. There are many great stores that surround the square. You could almost say that this park has it all.

Beautiful park in the middle of Manhattan. A lot of work has been done recently on the north end. There are some great new playgrounds for kids of different age groups, and new bathrooms on the northeast end. The park is very busy: Greenmarket on the weekends on the north end, frequent rallies, protests and performances on the south end. It's a popular meeting spot as well.

One of my favorite spots in the city, I love people watching and so for that reason, there's really diverse crowd, busy area, quite touristy, good for dog walkers and lovers, spot for activists and people who do silent protests and stuff. A little touch of hip hop culture in the summer nights. Beware of the skaters tho like for real..!! Not even kidding

The USP aka The Coffee Shop - They have a quiet room in the back with a gas fireplace. Food, delicious. I had the crab cake Benedict. All enjoyed our food and excellent service.

Great on a sunny day. Area for 2 - 5 with swings, and sand, and another area ( Evelyn Park) for the 5 - 12 year olds. On Saturday mid-morning onward, there's a post ballet set present. Mostly populated by children, and their parents, there's a level of Civility here that is not always found in many playgrounds period a good time all around.
