Mission

To provide a quality, affordable and accessible opportunity for people spay and neuter their companion animals so that someday we can end pet overpopulation in our community.

Products

The ACT Spay/Neuter Clinic provides low cost spay and neuter services. We also offer low cost vaccinations and pet health products for flea and heartworm preventative. Our monthly all-volunteer program, Project SpayDay, provides trap-neuter-return services for feral cats.

Affordable animal care. I was hesitant to take my male kitten anywhere other than a "vet" to be neutered, however I was quoted $300+ elsewhere. 

Cost: I got my kitty neutered (43), rabies vaccine (25?), microchip (25) and painkillers (10) (optional post-surgery) for a total of $93.00. I believe low income families can request a voucher for a cheaper neuter. Make sure your vouchers are not expired as they had to turn some people away.

Process: You need to call ahead to reserve a spot for your animal and put a down payment of $25. (This is taken off the total when you pay). It is not in the best area, and I was a bit "sketched out" of the building itself. However, I was entirely too quick to judge. The staff was really friendly, transparent, and helpful as it was my first time as a pet owner. I was entirely confident in the vets skills. I filled out a form, sat under a tent with a bunch of other people and their animals (cats in cages, small dogs in cages, big dogs on leashes) and waited for my name to be called. They gave him a makeshift collar, took me inside, took my kitty away and I paid. I had some questions for the vet, which he answered thoroughly, and they gave me a post-treatment paperwork.

Drop off @ 8:30 (allow 45 minutes for check in process - timing is pretty flexible.. they don't call you up until you submit your sheet)

THEY CLOSE AT 5 (there's a late fee)
No food or water from 8:30pm the night before

Optional painkillers for the animal are $10.

If the wait wasn't so long id give them five stars.  Inexpensive.  Helpful.  They do what i need them to for my animals. WAY less expensive than going to a vet where you have to pay for a first visit and THEN come back another time just for them to charge you an arm and a leg.  I like the fobo deal as well.  I recommend going here if you need inexpensive pet care.

Wonderful staff and vets, perhaps the least expensive place in Tampa to get veterinary care, but the building has limited (on street) parking. We have 4 dogs, 1 cat, and a turtle, and all are cared for by this facility. I live in south Tampa, and it is well worth the drive.

The best, you know why... because its a non profit. Vets try to rip you left and right, always prefer ACT unless its an emergency.

I brought in a feral cat for spaying to be released later, and they took great care of her. I'm sure she was a handful cause she was not happy to be captured! Very reasonable cost for TNR services and pet care in general. I'm glad a place like this exists, with people who work hard to help animals and pet owners.
