I have been fortunate to visit this place several times and every time is wonderful. If you don't like crowds, the best time to visit is in winter, since during the summer it is hard to find a place to park and there are tons of people around. For those who just want to stop in for a quick visit, there is a visitors center and a 30 minute trail that takes you past some of the biggest trees in the forest. If you are more adventurous, you can try one of the many hiking trails. Be sure to take enough water and snacks with you though! There is a small convenience store where you can buy food and basic camping supplies.

This park has two personalities. One one hand ... The short trail around a groove of redwoods is great when you want to walk with Giants but don't have much time. It's perfectly flat packed dirt so it can be enjoyed by people who may otherwise have a challenge with typical trails. The other personality is typical forested park with miles of trails except with redwoods everywhere. The mist/fog and tree canopy makes the park cool and very green even when the rest of the bay is dry. It's a truly beautiful place.

This is a majestic place with redwoods accessible to all ages and abilities. You can go deep like we did and find hidden gems like a giant mushroom cluster with dozens and dozens of newts and banana slugs hiding in it. Slow down and look at the ground, trees, and streams and you'll find some amazing creatures and plants. Please help take care of the area by following all posted rules, outdoor etiquette, and common sense. KEEP THE PARK CRUMB CLEAN so jays don't come and eat the endangered Marbled Murrelet eggs and chicks!

Wonderful place to visit, with majestic trees. You can go for an easy walk and see some of the largest trees on the planet. For those more adventurous there are trails. Plenty of wild life. For those that really love it there are also camping options. The road in has plenty of curves, if coming in from san Francisco, but definitely worth the drive. Suggest checking out the nearby walk around the trees and then venturing out to see some of the other areas if you are looking for more.

This gorgeous state park made for the most beautiful walk in the woods of my life. Home to some of the tallest trees in the world, taller than the state of liberty, contains easily accessible trails that lead to ancient trees. The Redwood Trail loop is easy if you're short on time, or have those that are less able to commit to long hikes. If you're in the Bay Area, this is definitely a worthy excursion.
