Grover Hot Springs State Park

Story

Grover Hot Springs State Park is a state park of California, USA, containing natural hot springs on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada. Park amenities include a swimming pool complex fed by the hot springs, as well as a campground, picnic area, and hiking trails. The 553acre park was established in 1959.NameNamed for Alvin M Grover on whose homestead the springs are situated and was county assessor.GeographyGrover Hot Springs State Park is located at 5900ft in the northern Sierra Nevada, at the edge of the Great Basin. Vegetation consists mainly of pine forest, sagebrush, and open meadows. The park is open all year allowing visitors to experience a variety of weather conditions, from major blizzards to dry days, from warm clear nights to intense, blasting thunderstorms. Winds of great speed coming off the mountains are capable of whipping through the park causing damage during any month of the year.Hot springs and poolsThe mineral deposits on the bottom of the pool cause refracted light to lose certain wavelengths; a distinct yellow-green hue is noticeable. These mineral deposits are laid down on the bottom by an oxidation reaction between the mineral salts in the water and the bromine used as a sanitizing agent. The pool complex is generally open every day (except Wednesday) from June through August for public wading. The pools close during nearby thunderstorms due to the possibility of lightning striking the water. During the winter, the pool complex will usually remain open.

This is a fantastic place! Great views and great activities. While there isn't much to do, what there is has a lot to go for it. The obvious activity to go from is the hot springs. They were pretty relaxing, with a normal pool too. My only gripe is how shallow the pool is with the spring water, only 2-3 feet. If you are planning a trip here, make sure you do it in the winter! It's an amazing day to go from hiking in the snow to a pool with 110 degree water. All in all, not a bad way to spend the day.

What's not to love? Beautiful location and healing hot springs water, nice hike to the waterfall. Camping here is great too. Enjoy some nature and take the drive! You will not be disappointed.

Great place to camp and a hot doing too boot. The camp ground is very well kept and has real toilets and showers. The trails are lovely to hike and way to fine the waterfall is totally worth a visit. There are even river side camp sites so give this a shot

Lots of fun in the mountains! A beautiful venue with cool and hot pools. They limit the population so there may be a waiting line. Great place for a wonderful day and to bring out of town friends.

Great campsites, great trails, and a great set of carefully regulated hot springs that are good all year round (if not closed due to snow). There are beautiful cascades near the campground. The hot springs facilities are very good, with a cold pool and a hot pool. Great for kids too.
